Don’t laugh at these stick figures 😂 but here’s a visual to help understand what hip hinge is.

This is what the body should look like at launch position (when the front heel hits after striding.) Swipe to see some videos!

You have to have hip hinge in launch position to be able to have hip hinge during the swing.

Lack of hip hinge can cause any number of problems in the swing: arm barring, rolling over, pulling the head/front shoulder out early, a level swing, bat in the zone for a short period of time, squishing the bug
