In Ayurveda, it’s not only what pose we practice—it’s how we practice it.
Utthita Parsvakonasana (Extended Side Angle Pose) can be approached in a Pitta-pacifying way by shifting the intention from intensity and achievement toward coolness, spaciousness and ease.
✨ Create length without overreaching
✨ Keep the breath slow and steady
✨ Soften the gaze
✨ Relax the face and jaw
✨ Practice without competition or striving
✨ Choose a comfortable, cool environment when possible
As yoga teachers, Ayurveda teaches us to look beyond the pose and consider the person in front of us.
The same asana may need to be practiced differently depending on the individual, the season, their current state of balance, and what they need that day.
The pose doesn’t determine the doshic effect—the way we practice it does.
This is where Ayurveda can transform the way we teach yoga. 🌿
