Earlier this afternoon, the Northern Lights hosted the Chippewa Valley Hooligans for two matches in Fridley, which were played three-on-three! The team took care of business as they swept both games in what was their final games of the season before June’s USPSA Conference Cup Series in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Leading the scoring was Tejosh Rana, who totaled five goals and two assists in the second match. Other scorers were Grant Larson with four goals on the day; Michael Sack with a goal and three assists; and Paulo Felten, who notched three goals in game one. Jason Vietzke got in on the action with two goals in the opening match.

It was an excellent outcome to end the season and now the club has their eyes on the national tournament in just over two months!

Tomorrow, April 18, the Northern Lights conclude their regular season with two three-on-three games against the Chippewa Valley Hooligans in Fridley! Come on out to watch some great fast-paced action and cheer on the club. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Earlier today, the Northern Lights surprised some people and played two very competitive matches against the Minnesota Shockwave. With great defense and opportunistic scoring, the Club grabbed two victories from the #1 team in the nation!

Scoring in the first game was Grant Larson and the scorers in game two were Tejosh Rana, Michael Sack, and Paulo Felten.

The Northern Lights take the court next on Saturday, April 18 at 1 p.m. for two matches versus Chippewa Valley at Fridley Middle School. ALL ARE WELCOME TO ATTEND!

Yesterday, the 2026 USPSA season kicked off in Minnesota with Minnesota United PFC and Allina Health hosting the Power Soccer Invitational in Golden Valley!

Despite coming up short twice against the Minnesota Shockwave, the Northern Lights performed outstanding, keeping the #1 team in the nation to just eight goals on the day and putting a couple between the posts themselves.

The Northern Lights just wrapped up the busiest part of their schedule, where they played on back-to-back Saturdays! Jason Vietzke and Paulo Felten were the team’s primary goal scorers during the five game stretch, while Grant Larson and Michael Sack played some solid defense.

The Northern Lights next practice will be on March 8 at 1 p.m. at Fridley Middle School.

Earlier today, the 2025 USPSA season got underway with the Northern Lights visiting the Minnesota Shockwave for a doubleheader in Monticello.

Game one: Minnesota Shockwave 9, Northern Lights 1
Game two: Minnesota Shockwave 4, Northern Lights 0

After a disappointing first game besides for Jason Vietzke’s goal, the Northern Lights improved their defensive play in game two. Michael Sack and Grant Larson both made some impressive saves to limit the Shockwave’s scoring.

On Sunday, June 16, the Premier Cup at the USPSA Conference Cup Series wrapped up in Fort Wayne, Indiana with the Northern Lights clinching fourth place. Throughout the three-day tournament, the club displayed great defense and limited offense, and most of their games were close. Overall, they fared pretty well for competing in the top division for the first time!

Quarterfinals: Northern Lights 1, Los Angeles PSC 0
Semifinals: Northern Lights 1, Turnstone (Indiana) 4
Third Place Game: Northern Lights 0, RHI (Indiana) 1

The Northern Lights had a great season that showed that they can be competitive at the highest level! The team was not deterred facing the toughest teams in the nation, and they showed fans and the power soccer world that they have a shot of bringing the Premier Cup home in the near future.
