Happy 18th Birthday to #3 Kylie Sobucki!!
It’s hard to put into words what Kylie means to this program. She is one of the OG’s of this 18u squad. One of the few players who has been with me throughout my entire travel coaching career. Through all the seasons, practices, tournaments, wins, losses, and memories, Kylie has always been there.
On the field, she has been one of the most reliable pitchers I’ve ever had the privilege of coaching. When her number is called, she competes, throws strikes, and gives her team a chance to win every single time. Beyond pitching, Kylie has done just about everything you can do on a softball field, playing every position throughout her career except catcher. No matter where she was needed, she stepped up and got the job done. At the plate, she has always been a tough out. Kylie consistently finds ways to get on base, put pressure on defenses, and help her team succeed. Her value has never been limited to one position or one role, she has always been the definition of a team player.
The last few years haven’t always been easy. Like many athletes, Kylie has faced moments where she questioned whether she wanted to continue playing. What makes me proud is that she kept showing up, kept competing, and kept pushing forward. That perseverance has led her to the next chapter of her softball journey, and I couldn’t be happier to see her continue her career at Calumet College of St. Joseph this fall.
Off the field, Kylie is usually to herself, but those who know her best know how funny she can be when she lets her personality shine. She has a great heart, cares deeply about the people around her, and has been an incredible big sister and role model. The love she has for her family, especially her sister, is something that has always stood out.
Thank you for being one of the OGs and for helping build what this program has become. Watching you grow from a young player into a college athlete has been one of the greatest privileges of my coaching career.
Have a great day kiddo, you deserve it!
