Ryan Shay Mile 2023 🎽

What a weekend! Got my old legs moving for a 4:12 mile in my season opener. Had the pleasure of exploring a beautiful little town, competing in an incredible event and meeting some really cool people!Reminds me of what the sport is all about. Pushing yourself, competition, camaraderie and adventure!

On to see how many races I can squeeze in before the ‘Dons xc team reports in the fall🐘

Great alumni weekend at UNCW thanks to . Glad to see the program alive and well.

Great to see old friends and the coach that saved my love for the sport. Coach Schwier took a chance on me as a transfer, recommended for grad school & connected me with & PFW. To say he made an impact on my life in an understatement. I strive every day to have that same level of positive influence on my students athletes.

Dylan and I trained together every day for 3 years pushing each other to new heights. Both made NCAAs. Both made US championships. Both ran professionally. Both left our names on the UNCW record books. A true testament that you don’t have to be at a power 5 school to do big things!

Incredible indoor season for the Mastodons. Countless school records, PRs, program top 10 times and Horizon League podium spots. Far too much for a single post so here’s some of my favorite pictures from our home championship.

This is a long but overdue post- We had another record breaking season for PFW distance. The motto this yea was “Be Undeniable” and that’s exactly what we did.

We established ourselves as one of the best programs in the region regardless of division!

Of the 17 men that raced 16 ran PRs. As a team we ran 8 of the top 10 times for 8k in program history with the 1st two men ever under 25. We ran 5 of the top 10 10k times in program history this year with the 1st man under 32. Our team avg for 8k was 25:06 and 32:17 for 10k- both fastest in program history. We had the highest team placement ever at both the HL champs and Great Lakes Champs. Our 3rd place finish at HL was the highest finish of any men's running program at PFW including XC, indoor & outdoor.
Andrew- school record 8k & 10k, all-league, highest finish ever at Great Lakes Champs. 1st man under 32 for 10k.
Husam- School record 8k, 1st man under 25 for 8k.
Austin- Freshman record for 8k & 10k, freshman of the week honors.
Colten- Freshman & runner of the week honors.
Harrison- 2nd fastest freshman ever for 8k & 10k.

On the ladies' side of the 14 active runners on the roster 13 ran PRs.
-Brooke ran the 8th fastest 6k in school history, was all-league & has the 4th highest placement in program history at the Great Lakes Champs.
-Madi ran the 4th fastest 6k in school history & her 5k enroute to the 6k would be the 5th best 5k in school history.
-Riley won freshman of the week honors and ran the 2nd fastest freshman 6k in school history.
-As a team we had the highest placement in the HL champs yet and best finish as a team since 2008.

Long story short- you come to PFW to be part of something bigger than yourself. You come to PFW to get faster!
