News: Thank you to all the help we had last Saturday getting the courses ready for the 5th Sunday shoot. Not much needs to be done for this weekend and being it’s the Labor Day holiday we are not running a work day this Saturday.
Instead if you are around come out and enjoy the club on what looks to be a beautiful weekend. We had a great turnout last weekend for the shoot with quite a few new people that had never been at our club before. A few joined after seeing the property. This is a testament to the hard work that has been done by members to keep the club at the level it’s at. Thank you to all that pitch in with time and effort. We have also had some generous people who donated funds towards maintenance and equipment. And to the general membership for another year as the club basically functions on your yearly membership funds.
From myself and the board, thank you all for your part. Happy Labor Day weekend.

News: The walking courses are switched over to our fall set up. Red
Course is all “deer” type targets and
White remains a variety of different
size game. The direction on the creek area of white has been changed so be aware and just follow the arrows. We have purchased some new targets for the quarry target range. These should be out in the next coming month. They are a different brand than what we currently use but will still be 48”x48” in size. We will be interested in feedback on how well they hold up and work. As the summer ends and fall is just around the corner the club typically gets busier on Saturdays and Sundays. Just a few “friendly”
reminders that should not need to be made but we do so that no one
can say they didn’t know. First and foremost is Wapiti is part of a State Park and is strictly No Hunting on the grounds. That includes the property across the Shady Run Creek (behind the car dealerships and train station)That property is ours to manage and included in our lease with the State. Now you know.
Anyone found hunting on Wapiti property will be prosecuted. I hate saying this every year but we live in a world where people will claim ignorance is innocence. Secondly
No broadheads anywhere on the property except the Broadhead range. This unfortunately is something we have dealt with in the past even more the poaching and just as recently as last year had to ban a member for thinking he was exempt (entitled). Enough of all that.
The club grounds are in great shape as we enter the fall season and the club itself is doing well. Thank you to the members as our membership is our sole source of income and our numbers the reason we can make target and equipment purchases to keep our club at its best. Good luck to everyone hunting this year.

News: We are in the full swing of summer now and it can get quite hot out on the courses-don’t forget to take water with you and stay hydrated. Earlier this year we had a member pass out due to heat out on the course. Fall is around the corner and with it the hunting season starts. As we have for the last few years, we will be switching one whole course to “deer type” targets.
This has proven very popular with the membership in the past so we will be moving to that set over the next month. New targets ( 5 ) are in the works for the quarry. The current targets have gone up substantially in price so we are actively speaking with another manufacturer about their system. Target size (4’x4’) will remain. As far as the walking courses, the normal changes for fall will take place over the next month so be aware of direction changes and follow the arrows. Some new targets placements will also begin with fall increasing the total number of targets on course. Everyone enjoy what’s left of summer and get out and shoot.

News: Happy 4th of July to everyone! We are celebrating the 250th birthday of the greatest nation. With the 4th of July weekend and the extreme heat that has been forecast, we are not expecting a giant turnout for the monthly shoot. That being said Saturday’s workday will probably be
just as hot so for anyone coming out on the 4th to help we are starting at 7am and will be done before 10am to avoid the heat. There is not a lot that needs to be done….just some trimming and basic clean up. Also for those that do come out to shoot on Sunday there will be water stations halfway through both courses. These will be in place for the next three month shoots if the forecast is for extreme temperatures. Stay hydrated please.
On another note our new Delta McKenzie Moose target has been delivered and it looks amazing. Hopefully it will be on course for next month’s shoot as we move towards our fall “hunting” set. Lots of poison ivy and poison oak out on the courses (mostly off in the weeds)we do our best to keep the trails trimmed back on the sides but be aware it is out there.
Dress appropriately.
I had a great conversation with the owners of one of the other well run successful “archery only” clubs in Pa. In the last weeks and as we compared numbers and activity differences of our clubs, we came to the realization that Wapiti is doing
better than most clubs in Pa. with our membership numbers, and the fact that members have access to 3D courses 365 days a year, we have something most clubs only dream of doing. We will continue to invest in the necessary equipment and targets to keep our club at this level. Thank you to the members, new and returning. Everyone enjoy and have a safe 4th of July. God Bless America!

News: Work in the quarry target range has begun with the cleanup
of some of the downed trees.
Targets will be assessed and removed if they are beyond use.
Speaking of targets we have purchased one of the new full size
Moose targets from Delta McKenzie
and should have it in a few weeks.
This is a huge target and will allow some long range placement. Clean up around the clubhouse continues
and plans to move all the work tables on the garage side of the building to a less cluttered area are
in the works.
On Wednesday June 3rd the Game
Commission asked permission to use the quarry target range to run
a program for youth after school
hours. The club granted permission
and welcomed the program as a way to introduce archery, 3D archery, and hunting to young people in our community. These are worthwhile programs and Wapiti Archers will welcome them in the future also. Access to the quarry during these events may or may not
be restricted for a short period of time.
Once again our club is on track to have a good year with membership
and we will be looking for ways to better our property and equipment
for maintenance purposes as well as keeping our target supply up to provide the best quality and experience for the members.

News: Spring is here and the club
grounds are turning green. Changes in targets, direction of the walking courses, new target placement and some new locations.
Just be aware of some of these minor changes to stay on course.
Most of the direction changes are on the White (lower) course. Have not seen a lot of evidence of ticks yet this year but take all precautions. We will keep the grass cut short as our best defense but that also requires that you stay on the walking paths and stay out of the brush off course.
All in all the club grounds are in good shape and just some general
maintenance work will be required to keep it that way. Clean up around the clubhouse area will be our next focus and then the target range. An order for 5 new 4’x4’ targets for the quarry will be placed soon and they should be in place by the end of the summer. These targets have held up well and have been the best value for the money. If you find your arrows passing through the centers on certain targets in the quarry try shooting some place other than center. Lots of foam on those targets and we are trying to get our money’s worth out of them before replacement. Everyone enjoy the changes we made and have a great Shoot Sunday.

4- 1st Sunday in April 4/5/26 is
Easter and there will be no open
Shoot and no workday Saturday
4/4/26 Club is still open to
Members but no monthly shoot
is planned.

News: As we head into spring and
nicer weather, just a reminder to stay
hydrated while at the club…
especially out on the walking
courses. Easy to forget to hydrate
but we had an unfortunate
situation just this past weekend.
One of our members passed out
and 911 had to be called. After a day in the hospital I’m happy and relieved to report they are doing well. It can happen quickly. Also
a reminder that ticks and poison
ivy are back and can be found just
feet off the trails. If you do happen to miss one of the backstops out
on the walking courses, it might
not be worth going after. Just a
heads-up on that. The big root-
ball and tree trunk have been removed from just above the
clubhouse entrance (thanks to
board member Cliff for taking care
of that problem) and we will be looking at fixing that area up and getting the benches reinstalled out front of the clubhouse soon. A couple new backstops are being added to the courses to give even more options and variety to our monthly shoots. We are slowly adding “camo” coverings to all the backstops so they don’t have that “black wall” feel behind the targets.
We are constantly looking for ways to make the club a better experience for members and monthly visitors. We have a great piece of property and making improvements large and small will keep the club moving in the right direction. Unfortunately in the last couple years after Covid we have seen a trend of some of the older clubs to lose members and close due to no help. Wapiti is going strong with what looks to be another great year for membership.
As spring gets going and summer is just around the corner everything around the club will start to grow.
Workdays are a chance for members to pitch in for the care of our club grounds. Come out and get your hands dirty even if it’s just once a year. Every little bit helps. Once again everyone enjoy the club, tell a friend…get a child involved in our great sport…they are the future. Happy Easter to everyone.

News: The only thing new is that spring is around the corner and the snow will eventually be gone.
The club remains open even when covered in snow and parking is the biggest issue.
Feel free to use the club during these big falls but parking must be inside the gate and off the main road.

News: The road to the clubhouse
