News: Work in the quarry target range has begun with the cleanup
of some of the downed trees.
Targets will be assessed and removed if they are beyond use.
Speaking of targets we have purchased one of the new full size
Moose targets from Delta McKenzie
and should have it in a few weeks.
This is a huge target and will allow some long range placement. Clean up around the clubhouse continues
and plans to move all the work tables on the garage side of the building to a less cluttered area are
in the works.
On Wednesday June 3rd the Game
Commission asked permission to use the quarry target range to run
a program for youth after school
hours. The club granted permission
and welcomed the program as a way to introduce archery, 3D archery, and hunting to young people in our community. These are worthwhile programs and Wapiti Archers will welcome them in the future also. Access to the quarry during these events may or may not
be restricted for a short period of time.
Once again our club is on track to have a good year with membership
and we will be looking for ways to better our property and equipment
for maintenance purposes as well as keeping our target supply up to provide the best quality and experience for the members.

News: Spring is here and the club
grounds are turning green. Changes in targets, direction of the walking courses, new target placement and some new locations.
Just be aware of some of these minor changes to stay on course.
Most of the direction changes are on the White (lower) course. Have not seen a lot of evidence of ticks yet this year but take all precautions. We will keep the grass cut short as our best defense but that also requires that you stay on the walking paths and stay out of the brush off course.
All in all the club grounds are in good shape and just some general
maintenance work will be required to keep it that way. Clean up around the clubhouse area will be our next focus and then the target range. An order for 5 new 4’x4’ targets for the quarry will be placed soon and they should be in place by the end of the summer. These targets have held up well and have been the best value for the money. If you find your arrows passing through the centers on certain targets in the quarry try shooting some place other than center. Lots of foam on those targets and we are trying to get our money’s worth out of them before replacement. Everyone enjoy the changes we made and have a great Shoot Sunday.

5th Sunday Shoot 3/29/26
1-Workday Saturday 3/28/26
8am-11am
2-Shoot day Sunday 3/29/26
Registration 7am-11am Courses
Closed to non-members @ 1pm
3-Memberships new and renewal
available during workday and
Sunday shoots.
4- 1st Sunday in April 4/5/26 is
Easter and there will be no open
Shoot and no workday Saturday
4/4/26 Club is still open to
Members but no monthly shoot
is planned.

News: As we head into spring and
nicer weather, just a reminder to stay
hydrated while at the club…
especially out on the walking
courses. Easy to forget to hydrate
but we had an unfortunate
situation just this past weekend.
One of our members passed out
and 911 had to be called. After a day in the hospital I’m happy and relieved to report they are doing well. It can happen quickly. Also
a reminder that ticks and poison
ivy are back and can be found just
feet off the trails. If you do happen to miss one of the backstops out
on the walking courses, it might
not be worth going after. Just a
heads-up on that. The big root-
ball and tree trunk have been removed from just above the
clubhouse entrance (thanks to
board member Cliff for taking care
of that problem) and we will be looking at fixing that area up and getting the benches reinstalled out front of the clubhouse soon. A couple new backstops are being added to the courses to give even more options and variety to our monthly shoots. We are slowly adding “camo” coverings to all the backstops so they don’t have that “black wall” feel behind the targets.
We are constantly looking for ways to make the club a better experience for members and monthly visitors. We have a great piece of property and making improvements large and small will keep the club moving in the right direction. Unfortunately in the last couple years after Covid we have seen a trend of some of the older clubs to lose members and close due to no help. Wapiti is going strong with what looks to be another great year for membership.
As spring gets going and summer is just around the corner everything around the club will start to grow.
Workdays are a chance for members to pitch in for the care of our club grounds. Come out and get your hands dirty even if it’s just once a year. Every little bit helps. Once again everyone enjoy the club, tell a friend…get a child involved in our great sport…they are the future. Happy Easter to everyone.

News: The only thing new is that spring is around the corner and the snow will eventually be gone.
The club remains open even when covered in snow and parking is the biggest issue.
Feel free to use the club during these big falls but parking must be inside the gate and off the main road.

Calendar year 2026 are going on
now and new membership
required as of the end of the
Sunday shoot 2/1/26 for new key
as the lock on the front gate will be
changed as of 1pm Sunday.

News: The road to the clubhouse
is plowed however the parking
areas are not. If you are coming to
the club this weekend to signup
or to shoot, parking will be along
the main road. Those feeling they
can handle the snow in the
parking areas can feel free to try.
All we ask is that you allow enough
room for those that need to get
past can. This is the last weekend
for membership renewal before
the new gate lock is installed. This
is not the last week for signups
but you will need to signup at
following shoots or workdays
after the lock change. Other
arrangements can be made for
signups on off weekends but
they will need to be scheduled
through the contacts on the
website. Spring IS coming.

News: We have a final count on
70th Anniversary Wapiti shirts
and the order will be at the printers
by week’s end. Shirts should be
available for pickup sometime in
February. Not a lot happening this
time of year around the club except
for some clean up around the
clubhouse. Courses are in good
shape. Occasionally Wapiti has a visitor that wanders into the property from adjacent properties
in the form of a coyote. It’s become
apparent that he is using the
property now. A couple kills have
shown up in the last couple weeks. If you see the coyote
just let someone
know where exactly you saw him.
Hope everyone has a safe and
Happy New Year.

News: Memberships (new and
renewed) are being accepted
now. All current memberships will
expire as of February 1st 2026.
Memberships can be had on
Saturday workdays and Sunday
Shoot days. 8am-11am
The 70th Anniversary t-shirt order
will be sent to the printer shortly
after the December ,1st Sunday
Shoot. The sign up sheet is in the
Clubhouse. You must sign up on
that sheet and mark your choices-
Size-Style (short or long sleeves)
and quantity of each. There will be
some extras available but sizes &
style will be very limited.
In the upcoming months we will be
constructing a couple new stor-
age structures on the property.
These projects will take place on
non-workday Saturdays if anyone
is interested in participating.
Cleanup around the Clubhouse
is the next project we have
planned. The tree in front of the
building and the rootball is first
then all the weeds. We want to
make the clubhouse a little more
presentable. Along with the area
on the garage side of the building.
Not much else except the removal
of a few more “expired” trees on
the 3D courses. The club is in
great shape maintenance wise
and we are almost finished with
the replacement of all the back-
stop improvements.
Everyone, Happy Thanksgiving!

1st Sunday Shoot 11/2/25

Early sign ups for 2026 start Saturday 11/1/25

News: First some bad news. We as board members have voted
to remove a 4 year member from the club for shooting broad-
heads out on the 3D courses. It was brought to our attention
that there was significant damage to a fairly new 3D target and
that it was apparent that broadheads had been used. Once we
determined who it was, a call was made, a conversation was had
where they admitted to having shot broadheads at “only” two
targets just to get dialed in as they said and his membership
was revoked. (3 years/no refund) This is something we take
seriously. The broadhead range in the quarry is the ONLY
place at Wapiti where broadheads are allowed. This actually
means you cannot have them in your quiver out on the 3D
courses. Leave them in your car.
On to more positive things. We have purchased some new
Rinehart 18/1 targets for the Broadhead range and will be
placing them out this Saturday. The grounds are in excellent
condition for this time of year and minimal work is needed to
maintain them.
This allows for the catching up on a few projects we have had
planned and a structure or two will be going up (for additional
storage) shortly. It is our plan to clean up and declutter around
the clubhouse now that the electrical work is completed.
Also we have a few more “questionable” trees that will be
coming down on the 3D courses. Usually we do tree
removal early Saturday mornings as to not affect the members.
Lastly if you are interested in getting a 70th anniversary Wapiti
t-shirt, the sign up sheet is in the clubhouse. We will only be
ordering the amount we have sign ups for. You do not need to
pay at this time and the shirts will be available around January
or February. The final design is in the works and we will place
our order in December. Long and short sleeves. Good luck to
all the hunters and to all members! Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

News: Most of the restoration of the Electric service around the club
has been completed and there should be no more closures at the
club. That said there is one final stage yet to be done on the
garage side of the building that should only take a couple days
but should not impact access to the courses or quarry. This is why
we have moved the entrance to the red (upper) course to the
opposite side of the building, where it will remain even after all
work has been finished. We are into our “fall set” now where the
Red (upper) course will be all “Deer type” targets throughout
the hunting season. The courses are in top shape right now thanks
to everyone that has come out to help with the work. We continue
to improve the courses as we see areas that need attention.
Currently we are replacing the last of the “conveyer belt” skirts on
the bottom of the backstops as they have a tendency to claim
inserts and points of arrows that pass through them. Only a few
remain and they should be gone by the next shoot. This is only a
small improvement but one we decided to address to make the
courses just that much better. In the next couple months we will
be changing the White course direction for our Winter Set. This
means the shot (currently Mule Deer) along the creek will go
away and you will enter the field before the new stand from the
opposite direction. Arrows will be arranged to show the way…just be
aware (especially for new members) of the changes in the course.
Fall is coming and grass cutting will no longer be a weekly
chore, but with fall comes the leaves. Clearing leaves from the
walking paths will be the chore that replaces grass. If you have
some time for a workday Saturday come on out an lend a hand in the
care of your club. Good luck to the hunters this season and to every-
one else enjoy some time at the club this fall. Winter is not too far off.
