The Black Caddis hatch is in full swing on the Bighorn River and the river is fishing well from top to bottom. The quality of fish in the river has many anglers putting their Personal Best in the net.

The Bighorn River continues to deliver sore arms and smiles.

Nymph fishing continues to produce the most consistent catch rates with sowbugs, PMD's and Caddis Pupa.

Match the hatch dry fly fishing has been good mid afternoon with PMD's and Black Caddis. Hopper fishing has been hit or miss. Those that commit to it are getting some spectacular eats on the big bugs.

Cold Water, Lots of Bugs and Big Fish.

We are having a summer to remember on the Bighorn River. Scuds, Sowbugs, PMD's and Black Caddis are keeping the trout and anglers happy.

and Black Caddis that have the rivers large trout happy.

The Bighorn River has moved into summer mode! Trout are keying in on PMD's, Black Caddis and small terrestrials. With water temperatures above 50 degrees, trout a beginning to spread out into the riffles. Emergences are strongest from Soap Creek Down to Mallards. Look for these hatches to migrate up river over the next few weeks.

Beth Gaede and her husband, Bob, have been fishing the Bighorn many years. Kip Dean has been their guide and they catch fish like this almost every year!

Anglers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Pale Morning Duns on the Bighorn River. Until then sowbug, scuds and small nymphs will continue to bring fish to the net. Many of the Rainbows are done spawning and have come off the Redds. Look for the river to slowly transition from spring to summer fishing over the next few weeks.

The Bighorn River continues to produce quality fish day after day. Sowbugs and Scuds have been producing the best results, with midge pupa and small mayfly nymph patterns taking fish also. Streamers have been producing on overcast days(as demonstrated in the first pic)
