That was our catch from our last trip out on Saturday. It was nothing fast and furious, but we did pick some fish with the screaming Current.
Looks like we’re gonna have some breeze left over at the first half of the day tomorrow before it drops out and makes the ocean nice for the weekend both trips on Friday the 7 AM and the 4 PM will both be going. Since of the red snapper shut down, we’ve added back Sunday morning 7 AM to 3 PM.
With regards to the red snapper fishery, the shut down will only be temporary. We still get our days. The Trump administration wanted the states to manage their own and governor DeSantis to fine job getting us the dates we had. It’s always been a battle between a commercial fisherman and a recreational fisherman, but generally, the recreational fisherman getting the short end of the stick. This time I believe we get our fair shot.
We were out last Thursday night on the trip that departed at 9 PM. With the speed of the new engines, it made the 31 mile ride pretty quick I was advised at 1:20 in the morning of a possible red snapper shut down not sure if it was AI or not. We opted to fish the trip. It was complete success epic Fishing fish up to 24 pounds and had close to 40 mangoes as a bycatch. Everyone went home with the red snapper. You’ve been managed to get a couple for the people that got sick.
Thus being said, I canceled Thursday night trip this week and Sundays, and I’ll wait till the beginning of next week before we change the schedule, but for as it stands the schedule for our red snapper dates are going to stand until we hear something more from our governor.
