11 years today since we lost my wonderful Dad at age 92. At least once a day I find myself thinking about him. He's still the smartest, classiest man I've ever known and the epitome of 'An Officer and a Gentleman'!

My great student Gregg made my whole day yesterday after texting me with the news of his victory in a South Florida Amateur event which was held at my course. We had a lesson the day before and got his swing smoother and more powerful than ever. We first met March of 2023 when he was brand new to the game, and had just returned from a tournament where he shot 118 and 120, so he's come a long way. This was his 5th win this year so I'm super proud of his hard work.

I also received two texts with invites to be a speaker at a PGA meeting, one local and one out of town, so that was nice.

We also finally had our first cool front here in SW Florida last Thursday with a low of 59 degrees. First time since early April that we've been that cool so it felt great. Really makes me look forward to doing my holiday (Clark Griswold) lights, with Christmas now just 10 weeks away. ("Is your house on fire Clark??) 😁🎄

I got a wonderful text the other day from one of Karen and my dearest friends, Nir Kabaretti. Nir is one of the top, most respected Conductors in the world, and one of our favorite people ever. He and my sister Susan have worked together for nearly 20 years, as he is the part-time maestro of the Santa Barbara symphony in California where Susan has been GM for many years. They also worked together here in SW, Florida, as well as Nir's many occasions of conducting orchestras all around the world. Pretty cool that he speaks 5 languages too!

A few months ago Nir texted me that his son Adam (an avid golfer) was invited to play in the Tiger Woods Junior Invitational tournament at Pebble Beach, which is an honor in itself. Nir was excited to tell me that Adam won first place in his age group, the 13-15 year olds. That's AWESOME! Tiger wasn't able to come as he's still recovering from his latest back surgery, but Tour Pros Max Homa and Gary Woodland were there doing clinics for the kids.

Nir and his beautiful wife Gaja came to our Christmas party in 2015 along with their daughter and a very young Adam, aka 'Batman'.

A while back Susan sent me this picture of them at a rehearsal. I had to add the funny text and send it to him. Glad he has a great sense of humor.

Nir and I have discussed several times that whenever they visit Florida again they'll plan to have Adam spend a few days on the range with me so we can work on fine tuning his already terrific golf game. Great going Adam, and so super proud of you!!

I always love helping out our great staff with lessons from our GM and assistant pros, to our cart staff and rangers. This morning I had a lesson with Martin, one of our starters/rangers. He's a 70 'something' year old, and has never had a lesson with me or anyone.

His first few swings here that I got on video, I couldn't help but smile knowing that he would improve dramatically when we just worked on his set-up. If I've seen it once, I've seen it a million times in 44 years of teaching. If you stand there poorly, you're going to hit a poor shot! It's amazing how much a golfer can improve if you simply improve their set-up. Martin's aim, 'slouch' and being ahead of the ball during his set-up was interfering with his swing which actually wasn't too bad. When he saw himself side-by-side with Tiger and Ben Crenshaw, the differences were so noticible.

During my 5 years working under Ken Venturi I certainly learned the importance of the address position. He said, and I say in nearly every lesson that most amateurs will never have the power, flexibility, or speed of a Tour Pro, but there's no reason they can't 'set-up' as good as they do. Martin had a golf swing in there, but it couldn't show itself with his set-up.

We got him setting up like a pro and within a shot or two he started nailing them dead straight and solid and picked up a lot of distance. His swing improved because his set-up improved.

The excitment he had, and the smile on his face made my whole day!!
