Something truly magical took place yesterday, and I’m not talking about on the field either. Yesterday, Coach G put on a pep rally for the books. One that will be forever remembered by everyone involved. The young lady holding her hand is Jehely. She is currently battling cancer and was the artist that designed the shirts worn by faculty, staff, the football team, the cheer leaders, fans, basically everyone had one! Moat of us know someone with cancer so this pep rally hit hard for all of us. Throughout the day, Jehely was treated like the princess she is and shown what being on a red carpet feels like. When 7:30p came around, Coach Hepler chose her to be our teams honorary captain for the game. To top off her experience, Colton Flint held her hand while she ran the team out from the end zone to our sideline. We ended up winning the game 42-0 but that wasn’t the real victory. I watched an entire community join together to support a very sick young lady. I watched star athletes make a little girls dream come true. I saw the strongest of men brought to tears from this experience. I witnessed true magic happen last night and I couldn’t be more proud of these young men. The real victory last night is seen in the picture below. Zoom in and look at everyone’s smiling faces. Look at how engaged everyone is. All eyes were on a very kind and sweet Jehely. I am proud to be a Raider and moments like this make it that much better. Great game fellas! Parents, way to bring the noise and always, thank you for your support!!
