Some people teach you Pilates. Some people change the way you see it forever.
Happy birthday, Lo**ta San Miguel!
Getting to spend two years learning from and being mentored by Lo**ta was a gift Iāll never take for granted.
Iāll never forgot the first time I called the PMMP program to find out about auditioning to join one of her cohorts and she answered the phone. I donāt know why, but I didnāt expect HER to answer, or talk to me for as long as she did.
As someone who was trained by Joesph Pilates himself, she carries so much history, knowledge, and love for this work.
But what stayed with me wasnāt just what she knew. It was the confidence, trust and love she poured into us. She was unapologetically herself and she expected nothing less than our best anytime we were in her studio. Lipstick on, hair in a bun, and ready to work.
But Iām equally grateful for the woman Iāve gotten to know outside of the studio. She works hard, but she loves harder.
The longer I teach, the more I realize how much there is to learn about Pilates, people, relationships, business ownership. All of it. And I realize how lucky I am to have learned from someone who has dedicated her life to this work.
Happy birthday, Lo**ta. Thank you for the lessons that go far beyond the studio.

The first picture is one of my favorites of Lo**ta and I together at a dinner Iāll never forget. And the second is one of her holding my youngest when him and I went to Fl for a month. It was a side of her I loved getting to see.
