Playground of Safety using the pedestal as the safe spot. Goal here is to allow the horse to choose the moment he is ready to proceed with the lesson of the day. In Playground of Safety he gets to relax and solve his safety and comfort issues. This is a very introverted horse that internalizes loads of pressure and stress. We want to give him time and space to first switch over into Parasympathetic Nervous System, then choose to get down off the pedestal and connect.

A big takeaway here is that finding a spot your horse can relax and prepare is key. And sometimes you need to move to help the horse find the answer.

We can be frozen ourselves. Playground of Safety is as much for the people to relax, let go and switch into PSNS, as it is for the horse. The better you both get, the faster this exercise goes.

This is the reason I feel one must understand the science behind head up/head down, vs just installing a cue or equipment that creates a false posture.
