ICYMI: REEF's December Fish of the Month! ๐
Say hello to the Decorated Warbonnet (Chirolophis decoratus), a small but seriously stylish reef neighbor from the north Pacific: Russia to Alaska and down the coast of California, part of REEF's PAC survey region. ๐
๐ How to spot one: Look for a tan-to-brown mottled body, dark bars along the long dorsal fin, and the showstopperโbig, bushy โeyebrowโ cirri between and in front of the eyes (plus extra cirri on the first dorsal spines). ๐โจ
๐ Size: Usually 4โ10 inches, maxing out around 16 inches.
๐ฌ Seen one on a dive or snorkel? Drop a ๐ in the comments and tell us whereโbonus points if youโve logged it in a REEF survey!
(P.S. Subscribe to REEF's e-newsletter for a fun fish in your inbox every month! reef.org/user/register )
