Powerboat racers Chris Hopgood and Daren Kittredge, both residents of Lake Winnipesaukee, look forward to the year's HK Powersports Land and Lake Poker Run with enthusiastic support. Beyond competition, it's about enjoying a special place collectively for a good cause. Even world champ Danny DeSantis has a deep bond with the community, which has been instrumental in his love for boating. The tightly-knit community here lives and breathes boating! The versatile organizing team, powered by marine industry sponsors and invaluable volunteers, make this event a huge success. Gear up for a major boating event this weekend at Performance Boat Center of Osage Beach, Mo. This hotspot for go-fast boating fans is poised to host the Cigarette Owners Rendezvous and the Powered By Performance Fun Run. Over 100 boating enthusiasts from across the country have signed up for these two simultaneous gatherings.

Co-owner Brett Manire says, "It’s going to be wild hosting two such significant events on the same weekend!" Despite being a first for Performance Boat Center, the team is excited, striving to ensure everyone has an amazing time.

While both events have different itineraries and ventures, they share a fun run to Dog Days Bar and Grill as a closing event. Participants of the Cigarette Owners Rendezvous will begin with a meet-and-greet on Thursday, eventually heading to Coconuts after a driver's meeting on Friday. Meanwhile, the Powered By Performance Fun Run participants will kick things off at Redhead Lakefront Grill, followed by a run to the Cave Bar and Grill.

It's go time, boating fans! 🚤💨

After a demanding 2024 offshore powerboat racing season, Tyler Miller, owner of M CON Offshore Racing team, decided to reduce his commitments and focus solely on the Pro Class 1. As a busy entrepreneur and family man, managing both Super Cat and Pro Class 1 teams was no longer feasible.

The new Monster Energy/M CON Offshore Racing Skater catamaran didn't disappoint, swiftly claiming victory in its inaugural race. Miller, with his record of two world titles and four national championships in Super Cat, had nothing to prove, and was ready to embrace Pro Class 1.

Still, the allure of the waves was hard to resist. Now, Miller has expanded to manage both Pro Class 1 and Factory Stock, both of which claimed victories at the recent Shootout Offshore event. These new boats debuted on the Central Missouri.

Pairing with driver Myrick Coil, Miller is excited about the new Skater, a model 418. It boasts attributes from their best race boats all compressed into, what Miller described as, an incredibly nimble and quick boat. It corners like none other, potentially able to 'pull your eyeballs out of their sockets'.

Also new is the MTI 390XR catamaran for the Factory Stock team. Lauded for its speed, safety features and overall performance, both teams claim these boats to be game-changers. Miller looks forward to more victories ahead, with the spirit of the waves calling his name. .

No expert Bahamas boater here but after several trips to Bimini and a handful of lengthy voyages, including my most recent with , I'm evolving from a greenhorn into a seafaring capybara!🛥 Set to return in August with the -techboats squad. Here's some advice I've gathered👇

1️⃣The Bahamas is not the 51st state. It's a different country with its unique culture and leisurely pace. Whether dining or refueling, patience is virtue. You're in paradise, so relax and appreciate the sheer beauty. 🌴

2️⃣Enjoy partying responsibly. Captains should abstain from alcohol until docked safely. Passengers should also be mindful – you're crew member after all – someone might need your help. Let the natural beauty intoxicate you - the partying can wait. 🍻

3️⃣Fuel your boat at every stop. Hit the open water for your next destination with a loaded tank, even if you think it's not necessary. ⛽

4️⃣Protect yourself. Use PFDs when going above idle speed. It’s not about comfort, it's about safety. Better a sweaty afternoon than an unplanned dip.⚠️

5️⃣Cherish each moment. Snap a ton of photos and videos, but also unplug and truly immerse yourself in the vivid colors and scenery. Sometimes our memories capture more than camera lenses can. 🏞

Remember, this advice comes from a self-proclaimed greenhorn, but one who's enjoyed every single voyage to the Bahamas!

Gear up offshore racing fans for a thrilling weekend of performance-boating at the Lake of the Ozarks! This Saturday and Sunday, get ready for some high-speed aquatic action as the offshore raceboats take over for the 3rd race event of the inaugural International Hot Rod Association Offshore Series.

Also, don't miss the chance to be part of the Friday Support Our Troops Poker Run, a fail-safe winning move, where your participation is not just about the game but more for the cause. And what better way to make this day special than taking a veteran, active military member, or a first responder for a ride on your boat.

"The Support Our Troops Poker Run is a heartening demonstration of Lake of the Ozarks boating fraternity rallying behind our troops and veterans," says Sage Rush, marketing director of Big Thunder Marine. Be part of this noble cause and register online.

If you're away or don't own a boat, worry not. You can still contribute by donating directly to the nonprofit H.E.R.O.E.S. Care organization online. You'll agree, this is a far more meaningful - and guaranteed - way to be part of this exciting weekend. Let's come together and make a difference!

In the cozy living room of a home in Harbour Island, I'm a guest of Mark & Eileen Fischer of Deep Impact Custom Boats, all set for the Florida Powerboat Club Bahamas Poker Run. As I eagerly await tomorrow’s journey back to South Florida, three stories go live on speedonthewater.com. How? It is the joy and privilege of reporting and publishing from the road enabled by information technology.

From mobiles to photo file transfer programs, technology fuels my love for storytelling in the midst of events, boats, and people. Yet, it's not just the technology- it's the forging of human relationships and the narratives I craft.

At lunch yesterday, I was asked if I use A.I. for content generation. My response - a firm 'No'. However advanced, A.I. can neither replace nurturing relationships nor recount tales in the manner I prefer. My passion and livelihood in storytelling simply trumps any tech apps.

In sum, technology only augments the efficiency of communication that forms the essence of storytelling. But for the sheer joy and privilege of telling these stories, the credit goes entirely to me.
