SUPERCUP RACE REPORT:
Team Lewis Racing traveled to Lake Park, host of the infamous Winter Champs, for the second round of the JConcepts Super Cup Series. It’s humorous that the race before this one was hosted on a astro track. Why is this humorous you might ask? Because that means we are going from the highest bite track we will race on this year to quite possibly the lowest bite track. The large, open, 1/10 track was extremely slick from practice day, and it continued into the mains. The track featured small jumps and an easier, less technical layout.
2wd Buggy - I decided to run the dirt car for obvious reasons. However this meant we had no setup to start with for the car. We guesstimated a starting setup and went from there. With many changes including shorter camber links, higher roll centers, and more droop, we had the car on rails for qualifier one.
Round two was not in my favor as traction came up and no setup changes were made. This gave the car the tendency to roll way too much, and actually oversteering tremendously. Minor tweaks were made for the A-Main, as I knew the track would be similar to qualifier one. I had an amazing run and barely missed out on the second spot after battling for it with Paul Wynn. 2wd Truck - This car never stops impressing me. As of right now, there is no dirt version of this car, which puts it at some sort of disadvantage. However, this car was dialed despite the lower traction. I guess this carpet car isn't just for carpet. Just like the buggy, I had to guess a starting setup and found that running Pro-Line Holeshots in the rear, and Pro-Line Edges in the front helped to keep it under control. Qualifying went well for me, but after some tweaks for the main, the car was nearly perfect. I was able to take the win over the well known JC/Losi driver JR Mitch. I can’t wait for the stand-up transmission to be released for this car. Below is the link to the race video.

4wd Buggy - This is the only car I have ran on a more “offroad condition”. Our starting setup was fairly close, and not much was changed. I started with too high of diff oils, (12k/500,000/7k) and ended up lowering the front and rear to 5/3k. Sadly I had bad luck in the main and had an awkward break causing me to finish poorly. After pushing wide and hitting the wood barrier on the left side of the track my entire rear suspension came off. The plastic shock top ripped through the threads, and C block pill for that side busted. That left only the ballcup and sway bar to hold everything together, after trying to finish the lap I wrecked and when the marshall decided to fiddle with my car, he managed to pop off the ball cup and swaybar, completely removing the entire suspension. The good news is that I had a spectacular finish in round one for this series, so this is hopefully my drop.
