“What you’re not changing, you’re choosing.”
This time last year, I was over 10 lbs heavier and deep into an offseason that was not serving me internally. From the outside it may have looked productive, but internally my body was struggling.
The bloating was constant.
Digestive issues daily.
Stomach pain became normal.
The food noise never shut off.
Instead of listening to the signs, we kept trying to outwork the problem. Push more food. Push harder. Keep going. Because in bodybuilding, that’s what most people do.
But this offseason, we took a different approach.
Instead of forcing growth, we took the time to address my gut health, digestion, inflammation, and internal health first.
And the difference has been huge.
Less inflammation.
Better digestion.
No daily stomach pain.
Better recovery.
A healthier relationship with food.
And a physique finally responding better because my body is functioning the way it should.
And this goes far beyond bodybuilding. So many people are walking around thinking it’s normal to feel constantly bloated, exhausted after eating, inflamed, craving sugar all day, having digestive issues, or fighting food noise 24/7. They think they just need more cardio, less food, or stricter dieting when in reality their body is stressed and trying to keep up.
You can’t expect your body to perform well externally when things internally are being ignored. Sometimes the answer isn’t pushing harder—it’s taking the time to fix the foundation first.
Sometimes pulling back is exactly what allows you to push forward the right way. The goal isn’t just to look healthy—it’s to actually feel healthy too. 🤍
