❤️⚽ FGSC FAMILY and community— PLEASE KEEP ERIC & HIS FAMILY IN YOUR PRAYERS 🙏
Soccer Community, we want to share an important update about one of our own, Eric Shannon Jr.
Eric has been part of the Fort Gibson Soccer Club family for several years as a referee. He graduated this past May and, shortly after graduation, proudly joined the United States Air Force to serve our country.
While in the middle of basic training, Eric began experiencing difficulties breathing and went to medical for evaluation. X-rays revealed a grapefruit-sized mass on his lung. After further testing, Eric was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin lymphoma.
Eric has already completed his first rounds of chemotherapy and is currently back in a room continuing his treatment and recovery.
His family is organizing a fundraiser to help with medical expenses and the cost of getting Eric home as he continues this difficult journey.
🙏 Please keep Eric and his entire family in your thoughts and prayers.

‼️‼️ If your child is 11 and would like to become a junior mentor (help with u8 and below games) we will be having an uncertified referee class for those mentors to know the laws of the game.
It will be Aug 22 from 10 to 1 and the HS student Union.
There will a referee meeting there after. ‼️‼️

Heat Guidelines:

We recognize now that teams have been established that everyone is so ready to hit the fields and put in the work. Please be mindful of the heat index and adhere to guidelines in place when planning your practices. Encourage your players to hydrate outside of practices. Remind parents that ice cold water is not great for stomachs when practicing in the heat. Build plenty of hydration breaks into your training sessions.

All of these things will help keep our young athletes as safe as possible which is always the priority.

Field beautification will be August 29th starting at 9 at the soccer fields. This will be getting the fields ready for the start of the season.

As summer comes to an end, we hope you've had a wonderful time traveling, making memories, and visiting family!

To help our families, we have extended registration to give everyone extra time before the late fees begin.

We've also added in-person registration dates to make signing up as easy as possible.

📍Late fee of $120 starts August 10th.

⏰️ Don't forget we are having in Person Sign Ups!!

📍Tuesday August 4th: 5:30–8:00 PM

📍Sunday afternoon August 9th from 3 to 6 at the soccer fields.

Lastly, a small reminder: if your player isn't signed up with their team before we hold draft night Monday, your player may not get on the same team. This is to be fair to all the players that signed up before hand.
