We’ve been polishing up the first level this week, and seeing it all come together. Essential movement turning into skills designed for chaos, controlling both yourself and your opponent. After classes, Lizzie decided to get a little “off the wall”.

A quick look and you can see that for many years, we were heavily involved in MMA & grappling and did very well. As soon as MMA hit the scene, we had to test it out for ourselves. We produced several World Champions, local champions, a Fighter of the Year, TV personalities, had fighters invited to the UFC, and more.

There just came a point when we missed our roots and began to return to our own way of doing things. We didn’t forsake what we learned during those years - we used it to fortify our arts. We may have stopped competition, but we never stopped training. We’ve developed methods that use MMA as our delivery system. It is our way of discerning what works and what doesn’t. If it can’t be applied using that system, we ask ourselves, “Is it even worth using?”

We are still doing the same things that brought us those successes, but our approach has been enhanced and continues to evolve throughout our years of experience, vetting, and application. Our students use the arts as well as fire walks, meditation in icy streams, and wilderness survival. Our focus is on personal accomplishment, testing limits, and developing real ability without risking crippling ourselves.

This allows us to express ourselves the way we want, explore what we want, and develop real skills we know we can count on – giving the Rogue Scholars a freedom to maneuver in life that few ever get to experience.
