Colorado Mountain Bike Association (COMBA) has issued the following statement: "After working with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, we want to share details about the upcoming seasonal wildlife closure for Trek Trails at Virginia Canyon Mountain Park (in Idaho Springs.) As outlined last year, parts of the park play a key role in preserving the winter habitat of the local bighorn sheep population. Both ewes and rams have been observed year-round in the area by CPW staff and during seasonal counts. Based on observations from last winter, CPW has determined that an adaptive management plan is the best approach this year. A partial park closure will be in effect from December 1 through March 31, 2026. During this time, all trails from below the hub area will be closed to all recreation. Trails above the hub area will remain open, with primary access to these occurring from the Morning Star trail with access from Virginia Canyon Road.
Please note there is no parking along Virginia Canyon Road. We ask that riders park in town and pedal up to the entrance at Morning Star. We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines. For more details, see the map below or contact us with any questions. We’re grateful to CPW for their partnership in helping balance the needs of both conservation and recreation in the form of this new adaptive management plan."

BREAKING NEWS! Nevada is now properly on the map, so to speak. Today we can announce a partnership with Carson Valley Trails Association (CVTA) of Minden, NV.

It is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization working with partners to provide public access through a recreational trail system for present and future generations to enjoy. They are committed to honoring this mission by planning, building, and caring for the trails in the area, and maintaining CVTA as a strong, viable organization. They aim to build greater community involvement through publicity and education, thus empowering a future generation of responsible trail users.

These volunteers are doing a great job and it is an honor to welcome them on the LuvTrails-Trailcare donation platform. They join the neighboring Tahoe Rim Trail Association, which is active to the west of Carson Valley.

By signing up at www.trail.care and pledging any amount per mile, trail users can donate to CVTA whenever they have enjoyed using the local trails for mountain biking, gravel biking, running, hiking, or just a short walk. BREAKING NEWS! It is great to welcome Westside Trail Federation of Oregon to the LuvTrails-Trailcare donation app. They are joining our other partners in the region, like Hood River Area Trail Stewards (Hood RATS) and Northwest Trail Alliance.

WTF is an all-volunteer advocacy organization dedicated to the love of mountain biking in the Portland metro area. Their primary mission revolves around trail advocacy, building, and maintenance. They partner with the Oregon Department of Forestry (and other local Land Managers) to create new trail access, ensure the upkeep of existing trails, and explore opportunities to expand the trail network throughout the stunning Northern Oregon Coast Range.

Past and current projects include trail development with the City of Vernonia, L.L. Stub Stewart State Park (OPRD) and the Oregon Department of Forestry in the Tillamook State Forest.

When you ride or run or hike in these areas, please consider signing up for per-mile donations at www.trail.care and give back to the local volunteer trail groups. It's a no-brainer. See'ya out there.

The Pisgah National Forest and surrounding recreation areas in North Carolina were catastrophically hit by Hurricane Helene. Thanks to the many volunteers and generous donations the cleanup and rehabilitation of trails are starting to show positive results and trails are reopening. But the recovery is still going to take a long time. If you can, please contact Pisgah Area SORBA and see where and how you can contribute.

Thanks to a massive effort from Pisgah Area SORBA's sawyer crews and volunteers, trails in the Pisgah National Forest near Asheville, NC, are slowly reopening to mountain bikes.
