Born from the ranks of the Fort Collins trail running community, Gnar Runners events are designed to promote enthusiasm and passion for the sport of mountain, trail and ultra running. Whether you are leading the charge at the front of the field, playing host in the middle of the pack or chasing course cut-offs, our dirt-based races are geared towards helping you achieve your off-road running goals

in stunning outdoor environments. While we seek to create challenging running lines on as much gnar-filled terrain as we can reasonably find, we also guarantee impeccably marked and measured courses, bountiful aid stations, and a post-race atmosphere to remember. Our current races include:

If you are coming off racing season, need some fulfilling time outdoors, or need volunteer credits...we've got opportunities for you! Check out these trail work days for the month of September:

September 19, 2026 - Gnar Runners Trail Work Day at Lory State Park, from 8am- ~4pm.

We have a tradition of hosting a trail work day the weekend following a Lory State Park trail race (in this case, Black Squirrel Half Marathon...OH and there's still some spots left 😉). It is one of our ways of saying thank you to Lory State Park and giving back to the sport and land management teams 🙂. Projects are TBD but most likely will involve drainage implementation.

September 26, 2026 - National Public Lands Day volunteer event, hosted by the City of Fort Collins, from 8:30a-12:30p at Reservoir Ridge (Michaud TH). Projects will include vegetation management, drainage implementation, and tread stabilization/rock work.

Both days require NO experience, just a love for the outdoors and willingness to learn. We strongly recommend bringing water, work gloves, closed-toed shoes, long pants, and plenty of sunscreen.

If you got this race done, we've gotta give ya some serious kudos. Nick designed the most diabolical of courses....Overlook Trail then straight up Arthur's? 1700' gain in 6.4 miles? Come on, man 😜

Racing Red Feather next month and want a course preview? Want to share some long run miles in one of the most beautiful areas of Northern Colorado? Or looking to give back to our lovely trails? We will stop asking questions.

We've got our 4rd Annual Trail Work & Training Weekend coming up on August 15/16 (Sat/Sun). It's a quick end-of-summer hurrah with free camping just an hour from Fort Collins.

The course preview run will be on Saturday the 15th, with a general start at 8:00a. Parking for those joining morning-of will be at the Elkhorn Creek Trailhead.

Trail work will be on Sunday the 16th in partnership with Wildlands Restoration Volunteers(!) to do a bunch of tread & fill work on the Lady Moon / Molly Moon trails that our 50k & Half courses use. 8a start with a wrap-up by mid-afternoon. For camping, we'll be enjoying some free dispersed camping in the national forest. There's a great series of spaces right along CR69C (Boy Scout Rd). Look for a Gnar feather flag by the road between the main Boy Scout Camp entrance and the Elkhorn Trailhead.

Prices for the Red Feather Trail Jamboree and Colorado 24 hour run increase TONIGHT 7/31 at midnight! Take advantage of that early bird pricing and lock into a new challenge, whether it's a gorgeous fall race with some of the most beautiful parts of Northern Colorado, or seeing how much distance you can cover in 6, 12, or 24 hours!
