It's fun to go back and throw discs from the past. For myself, and for Innova discs, this is pretty easy to do. They re-release and remold a lot of their older discs. These aren't too old. But they fly extremely well. :-) so these are Innova FL. There are many stories about where that name came from. What I will tell you is that it has a very rounded rim like a firebird. It is really comfortable in the hand. And these are very predictable, and stable. I think it's fun to go to their site and look to see what they are molding now. There were some star banshees, I even saw a bulldog. Sometimes it's enjoyable to go back and throw something you haven't thrown for years. Even if it's just to see how far you've come. Or how much you've lost. :-)

So anyone who knows me, knows that I love a good 9-speed. They are the workhorse in disc golf. So today I'm testing a pair of Kastaplast Lots in K1 plastic. So I find it challenging because there are many discs that claim to be a 9/5/-1/2 or very close by. I live at 5,000 ft of elevation so discs fly a bit more stable here. But even with this disc I think the numbers are slightly off. I would call it a 0/2. I threw this disc on many different lines and it never wanted to run straight or turn on its own. The plastic is super grippy. So much so, that when I would take it out of my bag it would pull other discs out with it. The rim is interesting, the underside is slightly rounded. I'm pretty sure that they do this to make releasing the disc from the mold easier. They are very consistent with each other. These are 175 g each, both of them in white. I just try to remove as many variables as I can, just to get more consistency. If you're looking for a disc that has a bit more fade, or runs really straight at sea level. I like this disc. And if I find myself back in Arizona or at a lower elevation, I can see myself throwing this a lot. :-)

Spring has sprung! Two discs today. So the Axiom discs Hex, and the Streamline Engine. So the Hex first. The Hex has been one of my go-to's lately. I love the comfortable feel, how flat they are, and the fact that the rim isn't too big to grip comfortably. This is in the neutron soft plastic. It's soft for sure. It'll be interesting to see if this puddle tops over time. The numbers are 5 5 -1 1. This is a 176 g in White. So this disc for me at 5,000 ft of elevation flies more like a 2 fade. Discs are more stable at this altitude. It'll be interesting to see how this beats in. Because right now it is a wonderful workhorse. The Streamline Engine. This disc is very interesting. It's a speed 13 which usually means it has a large wing. If your hands are small or you have grip issues, these discs can be difficult. This one isn't terrible. It's also in neutron plastic, but in the regular run. The numbers are 13 5 0.5 2. I think these are pretty close if you're just looking at stock numbers. The interesting thing about this disc is how it flies when it's not on angle. If you throw this disc flat and hard, even at my altitude it stays straight for longer than what I think it should. But if you tilt it, it wants to fight really hard. That's kind of interesting. Also I didn't see the ridiculous stability that I expected at my altitude. I'm not sure I would even throw this disc at Sea level. Which is interesting. It handles sidearm torque well. I can't wait for this disc to beat in. And I bought a blank one, so definitely some artwork coming. :-) I hope everybody's enjoying the weather!

So something that I think will start happening more in disc golf. Are companies that will make revisions to discs. Streamline, and MVP are one of those companies. We saw this with the time lapse. And now we are seeing it with the Boost. These are prototype Boosts from Streamline. They are already on their second version of this disc. The numbers fluctuate quite a bit. Anywhere from 10 speed, to a 3 fade. All depending on the disc. I think this can be a very productive disc for power throwers. It stays flat for an extended period of time and then fades left predictably. The more power you have, the longer it will stay flat. I'll be interested to try version 2 as well.

Happy Trails! So I'm sure a lot of you have thrown the Trail. This disc came out in 2023. It has really good glide. And if you choose a lighter weight it definitely seems to affect the stability. This isn't always true with discs. But it is with this one. I had held off because anyone who knows me, knows that I only throw white plastic unless it's vintage. So when they came out with the white rims and white top plate, I had to get some. :-) Absolutely loving this disc. The flight numbers are 10/5/-1/1. I think it's probably closer to 10/6/0/1. If you're looking for a new 10 speed. This might be right up your alley. :-)

The Ace! What a classic name for a disc golf disc. :-) so the Ace is very early in Innovas history. This disc was made in 1986 to 1987. So just one year. It has a really small rim. Later on this disc was re-tooled into the Hammer. It flies really nice. It's definitely understable. Later on it had a small bead added to the bottom. To make it a bit more manageable.

So I wanted to share this with everybody. Discraft has come out with some lightweight discs in a jawbreaker plastic. These discs are running in the 117 to 120 g. These are all 118 g. And they have phenomenal grip. I know that there are a lot of young people, people just starting out, or even people over the age of 60 that are looking for lightweight discs that are easy to throw. They did three discs in this run. So you have a driver, The Scorch, a mid-range, which is the Buzzz, and the putter which is the Challenger. I have to say that I've seen really good results from The Scorch. Full flight flexes, and extra distance. And The Buzzz actually seems more stable. But more because of aerodynamics. It has a blunt edge versus the driver. So it actually fights out. Hopefully you guys will give these a try. And know someone that this could help. I'll see you guys out there. :-)
