“Load on Sunday and shoot all week.”
That famous saying captures the reputation of one of America’s landmark fi****ms: the 1860 Henry r***e.
On October 16, 1860, Benjamin Tyler Henry received the patent for his improved repeating r***e. Chambered in .44 Henry rimfire, it held 15 cartridges in its tubular magazine, with room for one more in the chamber.
At a time when many soldiers carried single-shot muzzleloaders, that was a remarkable change.
The Henry helped shape the lever-action r***es that followed, including the famous Wi******er designs. Its place in American fi****ms history reaches well beyond its distinctive brass frame.
Have you ever fired a lever-action r***e? What was your first, or which one would you like to try?
