🍴 Special Feature: Billy O’s Famous Corned Beef

If you’ve spent any time at Ground Swipers, you know that the crack of the clays isn’t the only thing that draws a crowd. This Saturday, the aroma of a club tradition will be drifting across the range as Billy O prepares his legendary Corned Beef, Cabbage, and Potatoes.

This is about as close as Billy will get to a five-star industrial stove at Ground Swipers. All jokes aside, Billy has mastered the art of the slow-simmered brisket. It’s the ultimate fuel for a long day of shooting: perfectly brined, served with steamed cabbage and savory potatoes. Make sure to get in line early—once the word gets out, that "gourmet kitchen" is going to be the busiest spot in Lacey!

If you pick up the January 2026 issue of Trap & Field, you’ll notice some familiar excellence right on the front page.

While the magazine features several of the "top contenders" from across the country, we know who the real headliner is. Our very own Club Pro and legendary member, Richard "Rick" Batesko, graces the cover to commemorate his dominant performance as the 2025 Dixie Grand Doubles Champion. Frankly, we think the other champions on that page should be honored to be sharing the spotlight with a shooter of Rick’s caliber!

This cover story is a well-deserved tribute to the world-class skill we see every time Rick steps onto the field. What makes this achievement even more special to us is that, despite his elite national status, Rick remains a fixture here at the club. He never lets his titles get in the way of his willingness to get involved, often setting aside his own practice to pass down his knowledge and help a fellow member improve their score.

Please join us in congratulating Rick on this massive milestone. We are incredibly proud to have a champion of his stature—and heart—representing Ground Swipers.
