Summer is a busy time with kids out of school, scheduled vacations, BBQ get togethers with friends and family...just all the things!
But I wasn't about to let that get in the way of me trying to fit into my prepregnancy shorts by the end of summer after I had my youngest while still breastfeeding. The time was going to pass whether I lost weight or not, so I decided it was 100% worth trying.
The 5 daily habits I followed to keep milk supply, but fit into my prepregnancy shorts:
1. Daily walks - these set my tone for the day. I walked early in the morning by myself - didn't take the dog, didn't bring the kids...just me, myself, and I. It was my way to relieve stress, put me in the right mindset for the day, and get my body moving.
2. Meal planning - I planned out what I ate everyday the day before. Started with my main meals and then filled in the rest of my nutrition targets with snacks. Breastfeeding gave me a huge nutrition allowance that gave me a lot of wiggle room for going out to eat or get togethers. Take advantage of it!
3. Weight logs - I started tracking my weight everyday. People stress out over the scale, but I started making it a game for myself. I would see if I could hit a new low weight every week or so. And most weeks, I certainly was. Remember, the scale is just a data point. This helps you know if you're eating the right amount. It's not a race.
4. Bath soaks - this wasnt necessarily an every day thing, but it was quite frequent. I didn't have the funds to always get a massage, but give me some bath salts and an hour with a good book...and my stress levels decrease significantly.
5. Hit my nutrition targets - whether I was hungry or not, I would get as close as possible to hitting my nutrition targets everyday. Some days I would feel too full to get in an extra 100-200 calories, so I wouldn't bother, but most days I was within 100 calories and hitting each target with ease. These daily habits (or regular habits) kept me locked in during summer days and catapulted my results.
