Officer Shawn Silvera Memorial Run

Officer Shawn Silvera Memorial Run Please join us September 20th, 2026! 💙 Registration is now open. ➡️ https://iwproject.org/officer-shawn-silvera-memorial-5k/

This event is held in honor of Lino Lakes Officer Shawn Silvera, who was killed in the line of duty on September 6, 2005. Shawn lived his short life in service to others and so we celebrate his legacy, raising money for charitable organizations that enhance the lives of others. We invite all runners, walkers and toddlers to celebrate with us – every number has a story! We are honored each year to

hear of race participants who use this event to celebrate their own stories. Please share your story on Facebook.

Thank you Lino Lakes Police Department for sharing words to honor him, the BBQ meal and most of all the gift of your time!

We invite everyone to join us to remember as we run and walk together on September 20th. 👟💙
Not only do we commemorate Shawn’s legacy and life of service, we raise funds for causes that would have been so meaningful to him: law enforcement scholarships and the Invisible Wounds Project.

Many of the people behind Invisible Wounds Project have a background in serving as first responders. It’s fitting that they participate in our Public Safety Challenge. Team IWP won’t get any preferential treatment. 😉

We've got Chisago City Fire Department in for our Public Safety Challenge, but we've not heard from the Chisago County Sheriff's Office. Based on their Facebook posts, we're guessing they're a fun bunch. Consider this a callout!

September 20th, you can walk or run; just show up to support the important work of Invisible Wounds Project!

The chief’s opening remarks are always impactful.

Everyone has their own reason for supporting Invisible Wounds Project and our 5K. It might be Shawn himself, it might be help they’ve personally received from a first responder, it might be that IWP was a lifeline for them.

For this gentleman, he runs in memory of his dad. ❤️

What’s your reason for showing up?

This 5K is a memorial run, but it is also filled with joy.

One of the best parts of last year’s event was the fun shirts some of the Public Safety Challenge teams showed up with.

One of this year’s team names is Disgruntled Dispatchers, and we’re anxious to see if they have shirts as funny as their name.

Join us on September 20th, come to remember, support, and laugh.

Thank you, Lino Lakes Police Department.

Each year during National Police Week, we pause to remember the officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities. It is a solemn reminder of the courage, dedication, and selflessness required to stand on the front lines of public safety. We are forever grateful. We’d specifically like to acknowledge the sacrifice of Officer Shawn Silvera, a Lino Lakes Police Officer, who was killed in the line of duty on September 6, 2005.
