Long weekend of hoops for our girls down in Waukee this weekend. There definitely were some exciting moments. 6th graders lost a close one at the buzzer, 7th graders played against some of top programs in the Midwest, 8th graders were competitive throughout the weekend and the high schoolers end with an OT loss by 2 and a wild finish to end the tournament with a win (See video - it didn’t count). One tournament left for each team.

Big weekend ahead. All four teams in action in Des Moines. Some big tests ahead. Should be fun.

Late post.. last weekend results.
6th grade 1–2, 7th grade 1-2, 8th grade 0-3.

Tough weekend for girls overall. Really happy for our 6th graders. They did a good job overall in each game. 8th graders had a rough tournament overall. They will need to bounce back this weekend. 7th graders started the tournament off slow but picked up momentum throughout the rest of tournament.

We are down to two tournaments each for all 4 teams. Next up is this weekend in Des Moines.

We are back it tomorrow morning with the 8th grade team kickoff the Summer Jam tournament with a tough Diplomat team out of Cedar Rapids. 6th grade will follow and 7th grade will wrap up the tournament in the afternoon. Defend rebound, take of the ball and let’s run!

Really solid day for our teams today.
7th goes 2-0
HS goes 1-1
6th goes 0-2

There was a lot of good that came at each grade level over the course of today. Love the balance that our 7th graders showed today offensively and their defense and rebounding was great. Young girls stepped up and had solid a solid day for the short handed high schoolers. Some of young girls on the 6th grade team had notable moments as well. Just have to keep working hard to get better before our next tournament.

8th grade team goes 1-2 yesterday. Lost a close a close one to start the day. Missed a TON of layups and free throws. Wasn’t focused in game two and ran into a buzz saw against Kingdom as they were making a ton of 3’s including banked. Then lead to start to finish to close the day. Great effort on our girls part. One final game today for 3rd place.

Alright 8th grade team. You are up. 3 games tomorrow and one on Sunday. Let’s go!!

Yesterday was good day overall. The win-loss record may not say that. It was the first tournament for 3 of 4 teams and a lot of girls got to experience AAU for the first time.

6th- 0-3
7th- 2-1
8th- 0-3
HS- 1-2

6th- big time learning experience for those girls. A lot of newcomers on that team and it showed. Plenty to work on moving forward.
7th- Played well as expected. Lost the last game of a back to back by 9. Those are always tough with. Proud of the competed regardless.
8th- Had the lead for a while in every game. Plenty of to learn with group. They should learn from this and be better by the 16th.
HS- Had some close ones. We missed a TON of FT’s. Proud of their defense and ex*****on down the stretch of the last game. It led to an OT sudden death win right after the jump ball.

We have a while before we play again. Plenty of practice to get better and adjust. Thank you to all whom came and who watched on game changer (everyone can’t be a parent/guardian but you can always be a fan or family/friend).
