Good Morning, Trenholm Little League

Yesterday was the last day of the South Carolina Little League District 3 8/9/10 Softball Double Elimination Tournament at Friarsgate Park in Irmo. Your Trenholm Blue 8/9/10 Softball All Stars were the home team as they took on Irmo Green for the District 3 Championship!

In the top of the first inning, Trenholm Blue’s starting pitcher, Annabelle, retired three of the four batters she faced on a groundout back to her, a strikeout and a groundout to the second baseman to keep Irmo off the scoreboard. In the bottom of the first inning, Trenholm Blue’s offense went to work. They would score nine runs on four singles, a triple and three walks in the bottom of the first inning.

In the top of the second inning, Irmo Green would answer by scoring four runs to cut the deficit to five 9-4. But in the bottom of the second inning, Trenholm Blue would get a one out walk, a single to right field that moved the runner from first to third and an RBI groundout to get one run back. Trenholm Blue led 10-4 after two innings. Due to the heat, the teams took a ten minute break to cool off.

In the top of the third inning, Irmo Green would get a leadoff single and a stolen base. Then after two outs, they would get an RBI single to make the score 10-5. Annabelle would end the threat with a strikeout. In the bottom of the third inning, Trenholm Blue would answer with five runs on two singles, three walks and a hit by pitch to take a 15-5 lead.

All that was left to do was for Trenholm Blue to get three outs to end the game by run rule. Irmo would get their leadoff batter on base, needing one run to keep the game going. Annabelle would strike out the next batter. Then with the following hitter up, on an 0-1 count, the runner took off for second on a swinging strike. Trenholm Blue’s catcher, Hera, fired a strike to second base. Collin, the shortstop covering second base, caught the ball and laid the tag on the runner as she was sliding into the base. The umpire checked to see if Collin held on the ball. She showed him that he did. He gave the out signal! The Trenholm Blue fans roared with approval at the out call. Then three pitches later, Annabelle struck out the batter looking to end the game.

Trenholm Blue is your 2026 District 3 8/9/10 Champions, the second District 3 Championship this season for Trenholm Little League. Trenholm Blue Coach Pitch Baseball All Stars won their District 3 Tournament at the end of May.

For Trenholm Blue, Annabelle was a stalwart on the mound. She pitched a four inning complete game, allowing five runs, only two of which were earned on three hits. She struck out five and walked three. She also scored a run. Claire went 1 for 1 with 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Stevie went 1 for 1 with a triple, 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Brooklyn went 1 for 1 with an RBI, 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Collin went 1 for 1 with 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Hera went 1 for 1 with an RBI single and had that huge assist with the caught stealing. Margaret went 1 for 3 with a run scored and a stolen base. Eleanor went 1 for 2 with a stolen base.

Trenholm Blue will now represent District 3 as the District 8/9/10 Champions in the South Carolina Little League 8/9/10 State Tournament at Northwest Little League starting on June 25. Irmo Green will also be in the tournament as the runner up.

Speaking of Trenholm Blue Coach Pitch All Stars; the District 3 Coach Pitch Baseball Champions lost their last game in the South Carolina Coach Pitch Baseball State Tournament at Blue Ridge Little League today. Florence All Stars defeated Trenholm Blue 8-4. Trenholm Blue ended the tournament with a 1-3 record. We want to thank Trenholm Blue for their terrific season, as they brought home a District 3 Championship Banner!

The next tournament involving TLL teams will be the SC Little League District 3 8/9/10 Baseball Double Elimination Tournament at Friarsgate Park starting this Friday, June 19. Trenholm Blue takes on Irmo Green in a first round game at 6:30 PM and Trenholm Red takes on Irmo Gold in a first round game at 7:00 PM.

Good Morning, Trenholm Little League Nation!

Yesterday was the start of the second day of the South Carolina Little League District 3 8/9/10 Softball Double Elimination Tournament at Friarsgate Park in Irmo. Trenholm Red played Trenholm Blue at Friarsgate Park for a spot in the District 3 8/9/10 Softball Championship Game. Before the game started, both teams got together to take pictures at home plate.

In its 36 year history, Trenholm Little League has grown from about 250 players in 2013 to over 680 players this season. With that growth over the past 13 years, TLL started having multiple All Star Teams at various levels, which first occurred with their Coach Pitch Baseball All Star Teams Trenholm Blue and Trenholm Red in 2014.

During the past 12 years, it has always been the case that Trenholm Blue is the more experienced team that the younger Trenholm Red teams. And with that experience, that has often resulted in the Trenholm Blue teams winning district titles and advancing to state tournaments, even winning state championships, as the Trenholm Blue Coach Pitch Softball All Stars did last year.

Trenholm Red has had two Coach Pitch Softball All Star Teams advance to state in 2021 and 2025, where both teams won games in State Tournaments. And the Trenholm Red Coach Pitch Baseball team this year won two games in the District 3 Tournament. But the Trenholm Red teams at the higher levels have not historically been as competitive vs the top District 3 teams such as Trenholm Blue or Irmo's best team.

The Trenholm Red Minors Softball team won their first game Friday night in very convincing fashion, defeating Irmo Gold 19-6 smacking 12 hits in the process. Everyone was going to find out on Saturday that the run rule win was no fluke. Trenholm Red was going to show the rest of the District how good they are and your recap writer was there for the battle for Trenholm supremacy!

It was clear in the first inning that we were going to have a pitchers duel as Trenholm Blue’s Claire and Trenholm Red’s Emma Kate faced off. Claire struck out three of the first four batters she faced in the top of the first inning to hold Trenholm Red scoreless. But Emma Kate threw strikes in the bottom of the first inning, which resulted in her defense making three putouts to keep Trenholm Blue off the scoreboard.

In the top of the second inning, Trenholm Red was retired in order on three defensive putouts. In the bottom of the second, Trenholm Blue was retired in order on three defensive putouts. In the top of the third inning, Claire struck out the side.

In the bottom of the third inning, Trenholm Blue’s Stevie smacked a leadoff double. Emma Kate would strike out the next batter. Then Trenholm Blue’s Collin hit a groundball in the hole at shortstop. Trenholm Red’s shortstop went deep in the hole to try to stop the ball, but it bounced off her glove into the grass in short left field. Stevie had held up since she was not forced but took off for third when she saw the ball get deflected. But Lyla recovered and fired to third baseman Jay who put the tag on Stevie for the second out. Emma Kate would strike out the next batter and there was still no score after three innings.

In the top of the fourth inning, Claire struck out the first two batters. Then Trenholm Red’s Emerson would hit a groundball that resulted in an error. Emerson would take advantage of the error. With the next batter up, Emerson took second and third on wild pitches. Then with two strikes, another wild pitch resulted in Emerson racing home and just beating the tag to give Trenholm Red a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Emma Kate was still dealing. She retired the first batter on a groundball back to her and then struck out the next batter for the second out. With two outs, Trenholm Blue’s leadoff hitter Margaret came up She smacked a hard ground ball single off the third baseman. With India up, Margaret stole second base on the first pitch. She then stole third base two pitches later. Then on a wild pitch, Margaret raced home. The catcher for Trenholm Red, Emmie K quickly got the ball and was waiting for Margaret at home. Margaret slid into Emmie’s tag which resulted in the ball being knocked out of Emmie’s glove. Margaret tagged home and was safe! The game was now tied at one.

India would eventually walk. With Claire up, India stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch. Claire smacked a single to shortstop. With Eleanor up, Claire stole second base. Then Eleanor hit a pop up that resulted in an error, scoring Claire. Eleanor ended up at second base. Then Trenholm Blue’s Emmie C smoked a hard ground ball single into centerfield scoring Eleanor. Trenholm Blue scored four runs with two outs and no one on to take a 4-1 lead after four innings.

But this Trenholm Red team refused to go away quietly. Lyla started the top of the fifth inning with a hard groundball single to center field. With Emmie K up, Lyla stole second base. Then Emmie K hit a fly ball single to right field. Emmie would end up on second on the throw and Trenholm Red now had the tying run at the plate with runners on second and third with no out. After a strikeout, Lyerly smacked a single to shortstop scoring Lyla. Emmie K held up at second the play. Trenholm Red’s Jean moved the runners over to second and third on a groundout. Trenholm Red now had the tying runners in scoring position. But Claire left them stranded by striking out the next batter to end the rally and the score was now 4-2.

in the bottom of the fifth inning, Annabelle led off with a fly ball single to short right field. With Stevie up, Annabelle advanced to second on a wild pitch and then stole third. Stevie then smacked her second hit of the game, a hard groundball to shortstop to score Annabelle to give Trenholm Red a 5-2 lead. It looked like Trenholm Blue was going to have a big inning. Trenholm Blue’s Fiona then crushed a line drive. But it was right at the shortstop Lyla who made the nice catch. Lyla then launched a missile of a throw to first base to double off Stevie for the second time she threw out Stevie in the game. Emma Kate would retire the next batter on a groundout to second base to end the fifth inning.

Trenholm Red now needed three runs to tie the game in the top of the sixth. Jay did her part with a leadoff single to third base. But Claire bore down, striking out the next three batters in order to end the game. Trenholm Blue held off Trenholm Red in a very hard earned 5-2 win. Both teams did more than shake hands after the game. There were a lot of hugs shared by the players after the handshake line. It was great to see.

For Trenholm Blue, Claire was truly outstanding on the mound. She pitched a complete game, allowing only two runs, one earned on only four hits. She struck out FOURTEEN batters in six innings and only walked one batter. She threw one hundred pitches and seventy were strikes. She also went 1 for 2 with a run scored and a stolen base. Stevie went 2 for 2 with a double and an RBI. Margaret went 1 for 2 with a run scored and 2 stolen bases. Emmie went 1 for 2 with an RBI. Annabelle went 1 for 2 with a run scored and a stolen base. With the win, Trenholm Blue advanced to the District 3 Championship Game and also clinched a spot in the State Tournament on June 26.

For Trenholm Red, Lyerly went 1 for 2 with an RBI. Lyla went 1 for 2 with a run scored and a stolen base. Emmie K and Jay each had a hit. Emma Kate was terrific on the mound. She pitched a complete game, throwing five innings. She allowed five runs, only three earned, on seven hits and struck out three batters, walking only two.

Trenholm Red was not done for the day. They still had to play Irmo’s best team, Irmo Green, for a spot in the District 3 Championship Game today. Trenholm Red jumped out to an early lead in the top of the first inning, scoring three runs on three hits. Irmo Green would answer with three runs in the bottom of the first inning to tie the game.

In the top of the second inning, Trenholm Red would respond, scoring four runs on three singles and a double to go up 7-4. Irmo Green would answer with two runs in the bottom of the second inning to cut the deficit to two. After holding Trenholm Red scoreless in the top of the third inning, Irmo Green scored seven runs to take the lead at 12-7.

Once again, Trenholm Red would respond. Thanks to Emma Kate pitching in relief, Trenholm Red held Irmo Green scoreless in the fourth inning. That allowed Trenholm Red to come back and score five runs in the top of the fifth inning on three singles, a couple of walks and a couple of productive RBI groundouts to tie the game at twelve.

In the bottom of the fifth, Emma Kate kept dealing, striking out three of the four batters she faced to hold Irmo Green scoreless again. In the top of the sixth, Trenholm Red had a chance to take the lead but failed to score. In the bottom of the sixth, Emma Kate struck out the first batter she faced. But the next batter, Irmo’s leadoff batter, singled to left field. She would eventually score on wild pitches to win the game for Irmo Green. Trenholm Red loses a heartbreaker 13-12 to end their season.

Still, Trenholm Red could hold their heads up high. They run ruled Irmo Gold and then gave Trenholm Blue a terrific game in the Winner’s Bracket Final. Then they took Irmo’s best Minors team to the last at bats for Irmo and scored more runs on Irmo Green than Trenholm Blue did in their win over Irmo Green. It was a great showing by Trenholm Red!

For Trenholm Red, Emma Kate once again pitched wonderfully, as she pitched three innings, allowing two runs, neither earned, on five hits, striking out SEVEN batters and only walking two. She also went 1 for 3 at the plate with a run scored and a stolen base. Charleigh went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Jean went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Emerson went 1 for 2 with a double, an RBI and 3 runs scored. Ellen went 1 for 3 with 3 RBIs. Lyla and Emmie K each had a hit and 2 runs scored. Weller went 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored and 2 stolen bases. Lyerly went 1 for 3 with 2 RBIs.

Trenholm Blue now plays Irmo Green today at 2 pm at Friarsgate Park for the District 3 8/9/10 Championship and both teams have now qualified for the state tournament, which will be held at Northwest Little League starting on June 25.

Before the Trenholm Blue vs Trenholm Red game, the Trenholm Little League Softball All Stars played the Irmo Little League All Stars for the District 3 Little League Softball Championship. The Irmo Little League All Stars defeated the Trenholm Little League All Stars 16-1. Amana went 1 for 2 with a run scored. Addison had a hit and Caroline had an RBI.

Both teams will advance to the State Tournament being held at Northwest Little League starting on June 25.

Meanwhile, yesterday in the South Carolina Little League State Coach Pitch Softball Tournament at Blue Ridge Little League, the Trenholm Blue Coach Pitch Softball All Stars won their first elimination game vs. Darlington 19-2. Unfortunately, they would lose their next elimination game, as Florence CPSB All Stars defeated Trenholm Blue 16-6 (We didn’t have any Gamechanger feeds for either of the games to get stats from). Trenholm Blue finishes the tournament 1-2 and we want to thank them for a great All Star Season.

In the South Carolina Little League State Coach Pitch Baseball Tournament at Blue Ridge Little League, Trenholm Blue All Stars played two games yesterday. In the first game, Trenholm Blue downed the Barrier Island Bohicket Bomber All Stars 9-1. Everett went 3 for 3 with a home run, 3 RBIs, and 3 runs scored. Clark went 3 for 3 with a double and 3 runs scored. Ollie went 2 for 3 with a triple and 3 RBIs. Michael went 2 for 2 with an RBI.

In their second game, Trenholm Blue faced Greenville Red, the District 7 Champions, who were undefeated in All Star District and State Play. Trenholm Blue jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning. But Greenville Red would score nine unanswered runs over the next three innings and go on to win the game 15-5. Greenville Red clinched a spot in the semifinals in their bracket with a 3-0 record, as well as Laurens, who is also now 3-0 in the tournament.

For Trenholm Blue, Jackson led the way going 2 for 2. Bowen went 1 for 2 with an RBI and 2 runs scored. Clark and Everett each went 1 for 3 with a run scored. Matthew went 1 for 2 with an RBI.
