Tala Shruti School of Dance Tala Shruti was founded in 1995 in New Jersey with a focus on teaching Bharatanatyam. Bharatanatyam is the art form of Classical Indian dance.

The dance school is led by artistic director Renuka Srinivasan, an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer who had her advanced training in Madras, India. We are currently located in the historic, 100-year-old Fords Firehouse.

In the patience of teaching, the lessons repeated, the corrections given, and the quiet belief that keeps a dancer moving forward.

An Arangetram may last a few hours, but the journey behind it shapes a dancer for much longer.

For Ishani Singh, it meant a year of relentless practice, nine pieces, countless challenges, and a deeper love for Bharatanatyam.

A special part of that journey was the guidance of Guru Renuka Srinivasan, whose dedication pushed Ishani beyond what she thought she could do and helped her discover new depth in every piece.
