Returning from an ACL injury isn’t simply a matter of getting stronger and then going back to softball.

There are multiple pieces that have to come together:

🦵 Rehabilitation — rebuilding strength, mobility, stability, and movement quality

💪 Performance training — continuing to develop the physical qualities needed to compete

🥎 Sport-specific work — gradually exposing the athlete to the movements and demands of softball

😴 Recovery + load management — making sure the total workload is appropriate for where the athlete is in the process

The challenge is finding the right balance.

Too little load doesn’t adequately prepare the athlete. Too much, too soon can interfere with recovery.

That’s why return-to-play should be a progressive process—not a switch that gets flipped when an athlete is cleared.

The goal isn’t simply to get back on the field.

It’s to be prepared for what happens once you’re there.

Our Athlete of the Month is Taryn Montgomery!

Taryn recently committed to St. Cloud University to continue her hockey career. As a junior defenseman at Lovell Academy, tallied 1 goal and 22 assists in 66 games last season.

She previously played for the Anaheim Lady Ducks program.
