🌎💛 Human Dignity is Not Conditional 💛🌎
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend a “Know Your Rights and Protect Your Community” virtual event, and it was powerful. The conversation was urgent and inspiring, and it reminded me that standing in solidarity starts with being informed.
Grateful to see several of our California legislators present and actively supporting the cause:
* Senator Bob Archuleta
* Speaker of the Assembly Robert Rivas
* Assemblymember Mike Gipson
* Assemblymember Lisa Calderon
* Assemblymember Esmeralda Soria
* Assemblymember Blanca Pacheco
* Assemblymember Sabrina Cervantes
* Assemblymember Dr. Rhodesia Ransom
The event was led by Allison Davenport, Senior Managing Attorney with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center, and the knowledge shared is something everyone — regardless of immigration status — needs to know.
“Now is the time for those of us with citizen privilege to use our rights to defend others in our communities.”
🛑 Key Takeaways:
* Racial profiling is being disguised as immigration enforcement — this is not due process.
* ICE rarely has a valid judicial warrant (signed by a judge). Don’t open your door without one.
* Know your rights: You are protected under the Constitution, regardless of immigration status.
* Minimize exposure: You can ask to reschedule immigration appointments by phone if you feel unsafe.
* Seek only accredited legal help: Ask if your legal counsel is DOJ-recognized or a licensed attorney.
* We must raise our voices — and follow with action — to defend the rights of our neighbors.
This political climate is shifting fast, and it’s frightening — but it was clear today that many are fighting for human rights, dignity, and justice.
👥 These are not strangers. They are our friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and classmates.
It’s up to all of us to advocate, protect, and uplift them. Let’s educate ourselves and one another. Let’s demand better.
