It's May, and we are excited to introduce you to our Athlete of the Month! Chelsea joined our community two years ago. She had her second baby and has come back stronger than ever! It's been so fun to watch her growth in the past few months. Chelsea had a ton of success in the CrossFit Open and made it to Quarterfinals and chances are you have seen her at or near the top of the leaderboard on a daily basis. We are so proud of you, Chels!
Here's a bit more about her:
Preferred CrossFit Class time: 12pm, but recently I've been bouncing around to 9am and 4pm
Favorite CrossFit workout or lift: Power cleans and snatches
Least favorite workout or lift: Deadlifts
Recent PRs: I've recently figured out crossovers! And I'm up to about 20 unbroken double unders
Family life: My husband Brian and I have a 4.5 year old daughter Winnie and a 1.5 year old son Thatcher. If you've seen me at the gym, odds are you've seen me walking in 5 (or 10) minutes late with my kids in tow!
Job: Project Manager at a software company
Favorite hobby: Cooking, podcasts (Blurry Creatures is my fav), reading, going on walks/spending time outside with my family
Favorite workout music: I'm not picky, anything upbeat
Favorite thing about CrossFit Flower Mound: The community and coaches! We felt so welcomed and right at home when we moved to Flower Mound and joined CFFM 2 years ago. But I also really appreciate that Dave programs in time for skill work. I didn't have kipping pull-ups, toes-to-bar, double unders, etc. before coming to CFFM, but I was able to pick those up pretty quickly having time set aside in class to work on those skills.
Why you decided to start CrossFitting: I first tried CrossFit in 2020 after my gym shut down during COVID. My husband’s CrossFit gym reopened pretty quickly so I joined him and haven't looked back!
Thing you're most proud of in the gym: My consistency in showing up, even when I'm tired and busy and don't feel like working out.
Advice you'd give to someone interested in CF: Don't be intimidated, just give it a try! Even as a former college athlete and someone who exercised regularly, I was very nervous about trying CrossFit for the first time because of the intense stereotypes. But every CrossFit gym I've gone to has been so welcoming and has met me where I was in my fitness journey.
