Learning the basic defenses of using double sticks against a Bo staff, a notoriously difficult matchup.

While having two weapons sounds like an advantage, the staff’s extreme reach, leverage, and mass usually give the staff fighter a massive upper hand.

In Jun Fan Gung-Fu / Jeet Kune Do, entries are the methods used to bridge the gap and transition from a neutral range into close-quarters striking or trapping, which can be followed by a combination.

Pak Sao Entry: Slapping or parrying an opponent's incoming attack or obstruction with an open hand to clear a line for a counter-strike.

Lop Sao Entry: Pulling or grabbing an opponent's trapping hand or arm downward/sideways while simultaneously striking through the open gate.

Attack by Combination (ABC): Using a sequence of multiple strikes to overwhelm or open up the opponent.

Proud of these two. They were the stand out judges at the Orlando National tournament. Students, parents, and school owners alike praised these two cowboys for their outstanding judging, the way they conducted themselves, and their overall professionalism. These two young men represented, and they can hold their heads high and proud for it.
