Every Great Skater Starts with the Basics!

Never skated before? That’s exactly what Learn to Skate is for! Whether you’re a child stepping onto the ice for the first time or an adult who’s always wanted to learn, the H-F Ice Arena can help you build confidence one glide at a time. You’ll learn the fundamentals, including how to safely fall and get back up, forward marching, gliding and balancing.

And for young skaters dreaming about hockey, Learn to Skate is the first step in the H-F Ice Arena Player Journey, building the basic skating fundamentals needed before progressing to Pre-Hockey, Lil’ Warriors and eventually the H-F Vikings.

Try Hockey with Help from the Blackhawks!

Curious about hockey? Now’s the perfect time to give it a shot! The Homewood-Flossmoor Ice Arena is teaming up with the Blackhawks, AHAI and USA Hockey for Try Hockey for FREE on Saturday, October 3! Kids ages 4–10 can hit the ice, experience the excitement of hockey and discover just how much fun the game can be.

Plus, every participant receives a hockey stick, street hockey ball, an exclusive ticket offer to a 2026–27 Blackhawks game and more! Skate rentals will be provided by the H-F Ice Arena. Just remember to bring a helmet from home, a bike or hockey helmet works!

Hockey Family, Food & Fun!

What a way to kick off the season! A huge THANK YOU to all of our Lil’ Warriors and H-F Vikings families who joined us for the Welcome Back BBQ & Bags Tournament!

It was a great day to reconnect with teammates, welcome new hockey families, enjoy some friendly competition, and celebrate the exciting season ahead. We couldn’t have asked for a better gathering!

The Homewood-Flossmoor Park District is diligently working to recover from recent storm damage. Our facilities are gradually reopening, with H-F Racquet & Fitness Club and Irwin Community Center available as cooling stations. The Goldberg Administration Center and Wiley’s Grill will resume regular hours soon. Safety remains our priority as we assess Coyote Run Golf Course and H-F Ice Arena. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these challenges.

🚨Freestyle Skate Cancellation 🚨

Due to the power surge on Saturday evening, the ice surface softened and needs additional time to build back up.

As a result, today (8/3) and tomorrow's (8/4) Freestyle Skate from 3:30–5:30 pm has been cancelled.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as our team works to restore the ice to the safe, high-quality conditions our skaters expect.

Great news, skaters! The ice is freshly resurfaced, and the H-F Ice Arena is officially back to regular operations starting Monday, August 3! Whether you're perfecting your jumps, enjoying family time on the ice, sharpening your hockey skills, or joining a late-night Rat Hockey session, we've got something for everyone this August.

🔴 Tuesdays: 3:30–5:30 PM
