Don't forget to come out to Floresville Dental tomorrow to pick up free school supplies and clothes. Thank you so much to our generous community for all of your donations! We will still be taking donations there as well, so clean out your kids' closets and grab some supplies to donate.

The Village kids will be doing some water games tomorrow at Wilson County Trade Days! Bring the kiddos to have fun and get wet! The Chamber will also be collecting school supplies and kids' clothes if you would like to donate for local kids.

We had another meeting today with San Antonio River Authority and the teachers. The goal is to start up the free classes in the summer. There are logistics and paperwork that have to be worked through. In the meantime, be sure to like their page, because they are already offering a lot of awesome and free activities on Saturdays. Tomorrow they're doing free archery and an All About Bees event. These kind of entities receive funding based on numbers, so let's be sure to show them that this is a need in our community.

I have such awesome news y'all...FREE ACTIVITIES AND CLASSES!!! This morning I met with the San Antonio River Authority recreation department about doing our activities at Helton Park, since the Event Center didn't work out again. They were excited about it and will allow us to run the activities under them and even pay for the instructors, materials, and advertising...so all classes and activities will be...FREE!!! For now, we're just going to start with a kids basketball skills class, a kids dance class, and an adult Zumba class. If there's good attendance and everything goes well with these classes, they said we could expand the program to things like soccer, baseball, arts and crafts, etc. I'm still going to be helping to run and organize it, and I want to be sure that we get good attendance. So, please comment below on whether Thursday or Friday would work best for your family. Since it's outdoors, I'm thinking from 4 to 6 pm. Any input would be appreciated, so we can make this FREE program as successful as possible. It'll take a few weeks to get paperwork sorted out, but I'll still be there with my kiddos this Thursday after school if anyone wants to come hang out.

We regret to inform everyone that we will no longer be holding activities at the Event Center. It requires a lot of work, time, and money to plan these activities. We cannot continue to spend time and money when the Event Center continues to cancel our activities and when people don't show up. So, after Spring Break, we will just be getting together at Helton Park on Thursday's after school for a couple of hours. We will bring a bunch of balls and just let the kids play. If we begin to get a large enough group, we can start doing classes and other activities there too. We still want a community center, but until we can show the need with numbers, the city will not take it seriously and we will not be able to afford it.
