A big thank you to the FCA Wood Ducks for taking the time to scrimmage with us tonight! We truly appreciate the opportunity to play against such a great team with great coaches who teach and play the game the right way.

They are a great example of what we’re working toward. A goal for all of our Carolina Select teams to reach.

We’re grateful for the competition, the lessons, and the opportunity to continue growing. Best of luck to the Wood Ducks this fall season! ⚾️

🚨 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

Welcome Coach Matt Gaster! ⚾️

We are excited to welcome Coach Matt Gaster to the Carolina Select family and our 8U staff!

Coach Gaster is a Johnsonville High School baseball alum who was part of multiple Lower State Championship teams. His passion for baseball, competition, and most importantly player development has continued well beyond his playing days.

Coach Gaster has also coached 5–6-year-old teams to the state tournament twice. Those experiences opened his eyes to something he believes strongly in; the need to get kids developing the right way at an early age and to continue improving the level of baseball in our community.

That belief in development, fundamentals, and building a strong foundation aligns perfectly with what Carolina Select is all about.

We are excited to have Coach Gaster on board and look forward to seeing the impact he will have on our players, both on and off the field.

🚨 COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

WELCOME TO CAROLINA SELECT, COACH MATT AMMONS! ⚾️💙

We are extremely excited to welcome Coach Matt Ammons to the Carolina Select family and our 8U coaching staff! ⚾️💙

Coach Ammons brings a wealth of baseball knowledge, coaching experience, and a genuine passion for developing young athletes.

After completing his playing career at Coker College in 2011, Coach Ammons began his coaching career, making stops at Lake View High School and Lamar High School. In between those stops, he spent eight seasons at Florence-Darlington Technical College (2012–2019), where he served as the infield and outfield coach.

His player-development résumé speaks for itself, with the players he coached going on to compete at the Division I, Division II, NAIA, and Division III levels, as well as at the professional level.

After stepping away from college and high school coaching, Coach Ammons never stepped away from his passion for helping young athletes. He has continued to invest his time coaching his own children and other young players through the Delmae Baseball Organization and the City of Florence Softball Organization.

Now, we’re excited to have Coach Ammons bring that experience, knowledge, and passion to Carolina Select.

We believe the best coaches understand that developing young players is about far more than what happens between the lines. It’s about building confidence, discipline, accountability, teamwork, character, and a willingness to compete the right way.

Coach Ammons embodies those values, and we’re thrilled to have him join our staff.
