If you would’ve told my parents back in 2005, when they were paying thousands of dollars a year for me to dance (😅 thanks guys 🙏), that I would own a dance studio 20 years later they wouldn’t have believed it. But hey here we are! I’m also sure people thought I was crazy last year (and part of me did too) when I decided to open a studio after finding out I was pregnant with our third. Having a studio has always been a dream of mine, just one I thought may happen later in life. In November of 2024 (before I found out I was pregnant) my husband and I looked at a space that had so much potential for a great dance studio. We decided at that time, it wasn’t the best decision for our family in that moment. Fast forward to March of 2025 when a need for a dance space in our community came about. It still feels like a miracle how everything just fell into place. An even more perfect space, the community rallying around the idea, and my family’s support to follow this dream made it a reality. This past weekend we had our first dance recital on the “big stage” and it was something really special. I saw dancers who were a little more timid in the studio, show up on that stage! I also saw dancers who had a bright personality in the studio shine even brighter on stage! I am proud of every single dancer that stepped foot on that stage, whether they’ve been dancing for 5 months or 5 years. And I have a lot of thank you’s.. Rose for lights (and other shenanigans), Chris for sound, Tamara & Haylee for managing the stage, William for a lot of technical support, our sponsors, all of the parents who helped backstage and in the lobby, and lastly but most importantly our incredible teachers. Miss Elyse… you’re getting your own post eventually! It truly takes a village and I love ours. THANK YOU for your support, your encouragement, and for being a part of the Florence Dance Academy! Can’t wait to see how far we go next year!
