Hi all,
Haven't been online much (going past busy life), but i thought i would make a quick note to help everyone control the panic of the past days.

Emergency Preparedness

This is about mental processes and NOT gear.

Panic for food and TP are just unnessassary if you take a few minutes to walk yourself through what you REALLY need.

I'm sure you have seen the great post breaking down how much TP per go per roll will give you.

Planning is similar.

Here's a simple thought process to help you:

1. Pick a calories per day for food.
This is not for diets or high energy activities, this is for sheltering in place. Like diets, you can still plan the same way. So something around 1200-1500 per day is okay - YOU PICK what you want.

Part of this is to use NORMAL food. You don't need special rations for this. Most will expire anyway and cost way more than just stocking with normal items you use everyday. Canned goods have expiration dates you can rotate with. I suggest foods that do not need water added to use like soups, beefaroni, fruit, beans, etc. If you do use dry boxed things lime rice, make sure you mark you need water and how much.

2. Take step one times number of days you want to plan to have on hand.
Don't over think this. Use 3 or 4 days to make this manageable to get you going.

3. Do this for EACH person in your home.
If you have special diets or allegies etc. Customize this to your family's needs.

4. Now include the "little things" you will need as well.
Things like coffee singles, tea, TP, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, candy, snacks, special items, etc.

5. Put everything in a box.
This will let you mark everything for length of time, expiration dates, who box is for, special notes (need water), etc.

6. Now you inventory what you have.
You can now confidently and logically plan what you have and what you REALLY need.

For an example:
4 people x 4 boxes x 3 days.

Control the panic and be prepared.

Scorpion PDT Tactical Training Age 21 Restriction Policy

I feel the need to remind everyone of MY PERSONAL policy as it relates to the political climate of today.

Scorpion PDT restricts its Tactical Training classes to 21 and older.

All basic and safety classes are NOT restricted by age but must have legal adult guardian present if under 18 for long guns and 21 for pistols.

I will only do pistol basic and safety training for anyone under 21 IF that is the ONLY type of firearm in the home AND the training is accompanied by the adult parent that lives with the student.

I have one EXCEPTION - ACTIVE military personnel are NOT restricted from Tactical Classes.

That is MY policy.

Gabe is on a roll.....

Since all of you know my “holster issues” and i have professed and admitted to this bad habit, here’s great article describing the Non Permissive Environment concealed carry.

Great food for thought....thanks to Gabe!

So I received many emails about the last piece. Here is more on the discussion. An NPE pistol MUST be DA, or have a heavy trigger, because an NPE pistol will be carried without a holster. NPE, by the way, stands for NON-PERMISSIVE ENVIRONMENT. I would never carry a striker fired pistol that way for....

Something well written that says the truth.

I dont share alot of articles but i believe in the value of this one.

When it comes time, this is what “speed” means!

Time for a perspective check. Every so often, the temptation returns to us all. It could be the Youtube video with the cool guy doing something really fast. It could be the competitive shooter running a stage. But the bug nibbles on your earlobe. "Gooooooo fassssssterrrrr". I have my opinions on thi...

Thinking about flat tires....lol!

So should we do a (free) life skills class on changing tires?

So continuing Kit Time.....

Number 1 is foot wear!

Take your everyday shoes and upgrade. If your wear dress shoes keep running/tennis shoes in your car.

Best is a good boot. As you replace your foot wear put the old ones in your car.

Also....

Old sleeping bags or summer ones make great adds to your car kits.

Be smart, be practical, be safe!

Cheap but does the job!

Title: Loaded Chamber Indicators
Ok so my first "back in the saddle" post.....
Load Chamber Indicators.
I've recently spent some extra time in the dark corners of urban america. During this time I was reminded of a great safety feature that goes by without much respect - until you need it! It's not the end all, deal breaker if your pistol does not have one, it's just a nice feature to have if you get down to one pistol vs another.
Loaded Chamber Indicators are mechanical "checks" that allow you to feel if your pistol is loaded in the dark. This isn't my first or second way of ensuring my firearm is loaded, but it is a good feature when you are "absent sight".
To use, you run your finger of the indicator to feel if it's out (on = chamber loaded) or not out aka "in" (off = chamber is not loaded).
I've posted ONE example of this with my G***k 17, but several good pistols have these. Check your individual pistol as they can be in different places. I will post some other pics of other types shortly.

Remember: I post pics and comment for information only to benefit and safety of everyone, not for payment. So these posts are unbiased and my opinion of the subject based on my experiences and study of fi****ms. Pictures I do not take personally are from general pics available freely on the internet and posted here (unchanged) as they represent a better illustration of this discussion and not for endorsements or profit.
