Habakkuk 3:17–18
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines… yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
This passage pretty well captured my response to an evening that didn’t quite go as scripted. 😉
A short hunt with the puppy resulted in a nice point in a thicket that I was sure was going to be a rabbit. . . until a rooster boiled up and I missed it, twice. 🙄 (up until this point my shooting has been pretty decent)
Right after that I fished for awhile after sunset targeting big walleye. Most of the time on this spot you’re fishing for one good bite. My patience paid off and after 45 minutes I was hooked up. The tension on the rod told me it was a good fish. About 3/4 of the way in the fish just came off.
As I drove home I reflected on how blessed I’ve been in all the success I’ve been fortunate to have and how sometimes not having it work out makes those successful times more satisfying and how thankful I am for the opportunity to spend time outdoors doing what I love.
