I didn’t know it was going to, but this one stings a lot. I wrapped up the Lake Champlain MLF5 Toyota Series in 10th place. I’ve had my best season yet on the Toyota Series, making every cut possible. At the end of the day, I have nothing to be mad about, and so much to be thankful for.

I willfully elected to play it safe on day 1 of the tournament and fish protected water, not running the 40+ miles (round trip) to the fish I found in the second biggest waves I’ve ever seen. At the time I was happy with this decision as it would protect my boat for my outrageous fall fishing calendar. It wasn’t until after weigh in on the 2nd day, where the “what if” hit me. I needed 18-8 on day 1, and I weighed in 16-2. I’ve been pretty hard on myself since I weighed in yesterday knowing that my decision was solely mine, and I’ll have to live with it. All is well that ends well and one day, lord willing, I’ll hold a trophy.

Congratulations to Mega Bass Charters Team Labelle on the outstanding sweep this week - that was really impressive. Also Tripp and Ethan on the top 10’s. Harmon on Northern AOY.

Stayed dry yesterday and broke no records, but caught the biggest limit of the tournament at 22-7. Absolute “pinch-me” of a day of smallmouth fishing! Another cut made on Champlain, got another day of fishing and I’m excited!
