MENOMONIE, Wis. β€” As the calendar turns to August, the battle for the 2026 Red Cedar Speedway track championships is nearing its exciting conclusion. This year's Season Championship on Friday, August 14, will carry special meaning as the event has been officially named the Bob Hays Season Championship in honor of one of the Speedway's dedicated lifelong supporters.

Wanting to give back to the track that meant so much to Bob, the Hays family has partnered with Red Cedar Speedway to sponsor this year's Season Championship and celebrate his legacy within the local racing community.

Bob's passion for dirt track racing stretched back long before Red Cedar Speedway opened its gates. He was a regular at the former Eau Claire Raceway and came from a family deeply rooted in the sport, with both his father and uncles competing behind the wheel. Once Red Cedar Speedway opened, Bob became a familiar face in the grandstands, rarely missing a Friday night of racing. His favorite divisions were the Late Models and Super Stocks, and he was known for his unwavering support of local racers.

Many longtime fans may also remember seeing Bob behind the wheel of his beautifully restored 1962 Chevrolet Impala, which served as the Speedway's pace car on several occasions years ago.

Bob's love for the sport extended well beyond race nights. He treasured racing memorabilia throughout his life, including an original P***y Manor race brochure dating back to the 1980s. He was also a proud supporter of the Mahder racing family.

"Red Cedar Speedway is incredibly honored that the Hays family has chosen to celebrate Bob's memory by giving back to the Speedway and the racing community," said Speedway officials. "Bob's passion for racing and his dedication to supporting local drivers made him a familiar and respected figure at the track for decades. We look forward to honoring his legacy during this year's Season Championship."

The Bob Hays Season Championship on Friday, August 14 will feature an exciting night of racing with five divisions in action:
- WISSOTA Late Models
- WISSOTA Modifieds
- WISSOTA Super Stocks
- WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds
- USRA Late Models

Grandstand gates open at 5:00 p.m., with racing set to begin at 7:00 p.m.

Championship battles in every division will come to a head as drivers compete for the final points of the season and the opportunity to be crowned 2026 Red Cedar Speedway Track Champions.

Join us for an unforgettable evening as we celebrate another exciting racing season while honoring the life and legacy of Bob Hays, whose love for dirt track racing continues to leave a lasting impact on Red Cedar Speedway.

Late Models Return To Rice Lake Speedway August 8th
By Ed Reichert
Rice Lake WI – The WISSOTA Late Models last raced at the Rice Lake Speedway on July 27th, 2024. That long break will be ending this coming Saturday, on August 8th when the Structural Buildings WISSOTA Late Model Challenge Series come to the Rice Lake Speedway for round seven of their 2026 schedule.

The last time the Late Models raced at Rice Lake, Chad Mahder won the feature race and he will be among the favorites once again when perhaps as many as thirty drivers fight for the four thousand dollar top prize in the forty lap main event.

The series was rained out at the track in 2025 so this will be the first time that many drivers have had the opportunity to race at the track. That makes this race especially interesting as there is no β€œhome court” advantage at the Rice Lake Speedway as no one has had any laps around the track in over two years and no one has raced on the track since the new clay was applied and the track reshaped following the 2025 racing season. It will be very interesting to see just how quickly the drivers adapt to the new surface and who is fast out of the gate.

The current Structural Buildings WCS point standings find Tyler Peterson from Hickson North Dakota leading by twenty four points over Proctor Minnesota's Kevin Burdick and twenty seven points over Rice Minnesota's Shane Sabraski. Currently fourth is Cameron's own Kevin Eder who is looking forward to racing at his own adopted β€œhome track.”

A full show for the Late Models including time trials, qualifying heats and B Features will precede the forty lap main event.

As a bonus for the racing fans attending, a full program of heats and features will also be on tap for the WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks and Street Stocks and β€œIron Man” Sabraski is expected to enter a car in three of the racing divisions. There are only three track point nights left in the 2026 season and with close point races in several classes, these nights are especially important to the drivers.

Race time is 7 pm on August 8th with the pit gates opening at 4 pm and the grandstand one hour later. The Rice Lake Speedway is located one mile North of Rice Lake Wisconsin midway between state highway 48 and Barron County highway SS. The track phone number is 715-236-2002.

The speedway website and face book page will be providing more information and updates this week as the race grows closer.

Regular Racing this Friday, August 7th at Gondik Law, featuring WISSOTA Modifieds, Midwest Modifieds and Pure Stocks at this time.

Don't forget: every lap will be livestreamed online at www.WatchFYE.tv if you can't be at the track in person.

Additionally, the speedway has already reached out to area WISSOTA Super Stock drivers to gauge interest in adding the class to Friday's program. If enough drivers commit, the Super Stocks would race for the regular Friday night purse, but the event would not award WISSOTA National or Track Points due to the late schedule change.

An announcement regarding the possible addition of the Super Stocks will be made as soon as driver interest has been evaluated.
Fans attending Friday night's races will also enjoy the makeup of Full Throttle Bingo, which was originally scheduled during the XR Twin Ports Twin 25's event before rain forced its cancellation a few weeks ago.

Friday night's schedule includes:
β€’ Hot Laps: 6:30 p.m.
β€’ Racing Begins: 7:00 p.m.
