Florence ISR 1st Response with Ashley King

Florence ISR 1st Response with Ashley King Aquatic Survival skills for children 6 months to 6 years of age. Thank you for your interest in Infant Swimming Resource. We do not offer group lessons.

ISR is the safest and ONLY provider of comprehensive swimming and aquatic self-rescue™ instruction. Our method of clinically researched instruction emphasizes developmentally appropriate skills training to ensure that your child is learning self-rescue skills and developing the competence required to enjoy the water. Integrated into the skills training of infants and young children is the ISR Parent Education program that seeks to enable the parents and caretakers to understand drowning prevention methods and thereby, safeguard their child’s aquatic environment. Here are the Facts about ISR:
• ISR was founded in 1966 by Dr. Harvey Barnett with the guiding mission “to prevent drowning and enrich the lives of children by teaching them to swim” and to ensure that
Not One More Child Drowns.
• Since its creation, ISR has provided over 6 million safe and effective lessons to more than 160,000 children.
• This nationally recognized program is the first and only drowning prevention strategy that has earned a 100% safety record.
• ISR Certified Instructors are trained through an extensive 6-week course guided by a Master Instructor, during which time the Instructor is trained and tested in the academic areas of child psychology, behavioral science, physiology, and anatomy. In addition to gaining an academic foundation, Instructors engage in over 60 hours of hands on, in water practical application of the technique.
• The ISR National website is an award winning and nationally recognized site, providing information about water safety and aquatic self-rescue training for infants and young children, please visit www.infantswim.com for the complete ISR Story, as well as to view pictures and videos and read testimonials from parents and doctors. The ISR Lesson Experience:
ISR Lessons are available to infants and young children 6 months- 6 years old. These safe and effective lessons are customized to your child and taught one on one. Your child’s lesson experience will be unique and to provide the safest possible lesson, the instructor’s attention will be focused on your baby only throughout the lesson period. Lessons are no more than 10 minutes a day, 5 days a week, Monday through Friday. In order to master these self-rescue skills, the enrollment period is between 4 and 6 weeks. Your Certified ISR Instructor will provide instruction to your child that emphasizes developmentally appropriate skills training, health issues and considerations, ongoing program evaluations, and parent education. After the initial lesson experience is complete, ISR recommends that every child participate in 1 to 2 weeks of Refresher lessons every 6 months to a year. This will enable your child to learn how to adjust swimming and floating skills to their continually growing and developing bodies. Your Child’s Self-rescue Skills:
Infants (6 months- 12 months old) will learn to hold their breath underwater,
roll onto their back and float unassisted. This usually takes 4-5 weeks. Children (1 year- 6 years old) will learn the following sequence: how to hold their breath underwater; swim with their head down and eyes open; roll onto their back to float, rest, and breath; and roll back over to resume swimming until they reach the side of the pool and
can crawl out or be rescued by an adult. This usually takes 4-6 weeks. Since statistics show that 83% of all children who drown are fully clothed at the time, during the final week of lessons, while under the watchful eye of an instructor, each of our students have the opportunity to practice their self-rescue skills in both their summer and winter clothes. There is a $105. registration fee for each child. Lesson fees are $80. per week, and $70 per week each additional child. Thank you for contacting ISR and for making your child’s safety in and around the water a priority. For more information regarding Registration and Scheduling for classes, please contact me. I look forward to the opportunity to teach your infant or child the ISR self-rescue skills. Ashley King, ISR Instructor

🚨 WHAT IF YOUR CHILD FELL INTO THE WATER… FULLY CLOTHED? 🚨

Would they know what to do?

That’s exactly why we practice survival swimming beyond the swimsuit. 💙

Sweet Miss Quinlan, 3 years old, has worked so hard to master her self-rescue swim—and today, she took those skills to the next level. 🥹👏🏼

She practiced wearing PJs, winter clothes, and a summer dress because the reality is that children don't always fall into the water wearing a swimsuit.

According to the National Drowning Prevention Alliance 70% of childhood drownings happen when a child is not wearing a swimsuit.

Clothing changes everything.
👕 Different fabrics feel different in the water.
💧 Wet clothes can become heavy and affect buoyancy.
👟 Shoes can fall off unexpectedly.
🧠 And perhaps most importantly, children have to learn to stay calm when something unexpected happens.

When Quinlan’s shoes came off, she had to learn not to worry about them and instead focus on what she knows to do—self-rescue.

And she did it. ❤️

Watching her work through each new challenge, adapt to the changes in her clothing, and confidently find her float was such a proud moment.

Because survival swimming isn't about preparing children for the perfect scenario.

It’s about preparing them for the unexpected.

A fall into the pool.
A slip near the water.
Clothes getting heavy.
Shoes coming off.

We practice so that when the unexpected happens, their body has already learned what to do. 💙

I am SO incredibly proud of you, Quinlan! You worked hard, stayed determined, and showed just how strong your survival skills have become. 🥰👏🏼

This is why we practice.
This is why repetition matters.
This is why survival swimming matters.

Because one day, these skills could be the difference between a scary moment and a tragedy.

💙 Prepare for the unexpected. Practice for real life.💙

On this World 🌎 Drowning Prevention Day, I want to share with you ways you can protect your children from tragedy.

And scream as loud as I can that DROWNING IS A PREVENTABLE TRAGEDY!

⭐️Enroll your child in high quality swimming lessons which include teaching independent, self-rescue skills
⭐️Learn CPR and have all caregivers for your child do the same
⭐️Install a child safety fence around the full perimeter of your pool
⭐️Always stay within arms reach of your child when in the water and always be IN the water with your child
⭐️Assign a “Water Watcher” in 15 minute increments if you are around the water regardless if swimming time is planned- they must stay off their phone during their “shift”
⭐️Hire a lifeguard if you plan to have a party where a pool or other water is present
⭐️Place tables, chairs, or any other furnishings a few feet away from your pool child safety fence. Curious children can climb onto these items and find their way over the fence
⭐️Regularly check the integrity of pool fence latches and door locks leading to the water
⭐️Remove pool floats and toys from the pool when finished swimming to not entice a little one into the water
⭐️Dress your child in a brightly colored swimsuit if at the beach or pool
⭐️Use only US Coast Guard approved life jackets when on open water- test that your life vest floats a child face up before using
⭐️When traveling to a location with a pool, ensure preventative measures are in place or bring your own

✨ Meet Your ISR Instructor! ✨

Hi everyone! I'm Ashley, the owner and instructor of ISR 1st Response with Ashley King, LLC.

I'm a wife, a proud mom of two energetic boys, and a huge animal lover. My husband and I will be celebrating our 9-year wedding anniversary this November, and I truly couldn't do this without his incredible support. He has been my biggest cheerleader from the very beginning, encouraging me to follow my passion for water safety and supporting me through every step of building this business. Together, we're raising two adventurous boys who keep us busy and remind us every day why teaching lifesaving swim skills is so important.

As a family, we love spending time swimming, hiking, exploring the outdoors, building LEGO creations, reading, and making memories together. We also have two dogs that are very much part of the family and keep life fun and entertaining!

My passion for water safety actually started long before ISR. As a teenager, I worked as a lifeguard, where I learned the importance of prevention, vigilance, and being prepared to respond in an emergency. That passion for helping others eventually led me to a career as a paramedic, where I spent 10 years caring for people during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

During my time as a paramedic, I responded to many emergencies, including pediatric drownings. Those experiences changed me forever and inspired me to find a way to help prevent these tragedies before they happen. That's what led me to Infant Swimming Resource (ISR). Instead of responding after an emergency, I now have the opportunity to help families prepare before one ever occurs. Being able to combine my background as a lifeguard, paramedic, and now an ISR instructor feels like everything has come full circle, and I truly believe this is where I'm meant to be.

My favorite part of teaching isn't just watching children learn lifesaving skills—it's seeing their confidence grow. Watching a child who was once hesitant become confident, capable, and excited to come to lessons is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I also love watching my students grow from year to year as they return for refresher lessons. Building relationships with families and getting to celebrate each child's milestones both in and out of the pool is such a privilege.

Thank you for trusting me with your little ones. It is an honor to be part of your family's water safety journey, and I am so grateful for every family that has supported my business.

Now I'd love to hear from you!

💙 How did you find me?

🇺🇸💙 Have a Safe & Happy 4th of July! 💙🇺🇸

The 4th of July is a time for family, friends, and making memories around the water—but it's also one of the busiest times of the year for water-related emergencies. A few simple steps can make all the difference.

Remember that water safety is built on layers of protection:
🏊 Swim lessons & self-rescue skills
👀 Constant, undistracted adult supervision with a designated Water Watcher
🚪 Secure barriers, gates, and locks around pools
🚨 Pool alarms for an extra layer of protection
🦺 U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets when appropriate
❤️ Know CPR—you could save a life before emergency responders arrive
🚫 Never drink alcohol while swimming or supervising children near the water

This holiday, stay within arm's reach of young children, put phones away while supervising, keep toys out of the pool when not in use, and make sure your pool equipment is in good working order.

At ISR 1st Response with Ashley King, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to enjoy the water safely. Together, we can help prevent drowning and create a safer summer for everyone.

Wishing you a fun, memorable, and most importantly, safe Independence Day! 🇺🇸☀️💦

🌊☀️ Holiday weekends are made for fun, family, and memory-making — but water safety should always come first! Whether you’re spending time at the pool, lake, beach, or backyard splash pad, staying alert can save a life.

💙 A few simple reminders can make a huge difference:
⭐️ Stay within arm’s reach of your child and always get IN the water with them
⭐️ Assign a dedicated “Water Watcher” in 15-minute shifts — phones down, eyes up
⭐️ Consider hiring a lifeguard for parties where water is present
⭐️ Keep tables, chairs, and toys away from pool fences to prevent climbing
⭐️ Double-check pool gates, latches, and door locks
⭐️ Remove floats and toys after swimming to avoid tempting little ones back to the water
⭐️ Dress children in bright-colored swimsuits for better visibility
⭐️ Stay hydrated and reapply sunscreen often
⭐️ Use only U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jackets on open water

✨ Most importantly — have a SAFE and happy holiday!
Together, we can help prevent drowning and keep our families safer both in and around the water. 💦

Water safety is important for every child—but for families with children on the autism spectrum, it’s especially critical.

💙 Did you know:
• Children with autism are 160 times more likely to drown than their peers
• Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children with autism
• Nearly 70% of children with autism wander, often toward water
• Survival swim lessons can reduce drowning risk by up to 88%

Water can be incredibly आकर्षive to children, which makes layers of protection and proper swim skills life-saving—not optional.

At ISR 1st Response with Ashley King, we’re passionate about giving children the skills they need to survive in the water and give families peace of mind.

Let’s work together to keep our kids safer this season 💦
