RESTAURANT AT RED HILLS STATE PARK UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP

HV FOOD AND SPIRITS LAKESIDE TENTATIVELY SCHEDULED TO OPEN IN OCTOBER

The former Harry Lee’s Restaurant location at Red Hills State Park is expected to reopen this fall under new ownership.

Michelle Brooks, owner of HV Foods and Spirits in Olney, has taken over the restaurant site on the south side of the park along U.S. Route 50, just east of Sumner.

The location is currently undergoing renovations. Brooks said that, if everything proceeds as planned, the restaurant is tentatively scheduled to open around October 6.

The new restaurant will be named HV Food and Spirits Lakeside, reflecting its proximity to the scenic lake at Red Hills State Park.

The menu is expected to include steaks, burgers, seafood and a salad bar. The restaurant also has a liquor license and will offer alcoholic beverages. Additional menu selections will be announced in the future.

HV Food and Spirits Lakeside is expected to operate seven days a week. Daily hours have not yet been determined.

In this plot which is close to 1.5 acres I planted some Grandpa Rays brassica's in about 1/3 of it. I really like the brassicas as they seem to come up well. This was tilled and then I broadcast the brassica's about 2 weeks ago and then rolled them in with my Packer Maxx packer. I planted corn around the boarder really early and the deer really worked on it. I came back in later and planted the other 2/3 of the field into corn. The deer are definitely working on it but that is ok because they have to come thru the corn to get to the brassica's and the stands are on both side of the brassica's. Luckily we have been getting at least a 1/2 in rain about every other week which is great for summer and fall plots.

A little plot update. I am really happy with how this plot has turned out. This plot is just a little over an acre and we have about 8 rows of corn around the field for a border. The deer have ate the some of the tops out but not too many as there is corn in the fields around this plot. Inside the corn we have a really good stand of beans. I need to spray the ragweed's and in a few weeks I am going to come in here and probably broadcast some Grandpa Ray's Brassica's.
