This post should have been made earlier. Better late than never.
It’s not one I really wanted to post- because I thought he did an amazing job and I hated for him to give it up. But every good thing must come to an end.
Roger Leonard is no longer over South Shore Soccer. You won’t be seeing his face on the soccer fields any more.
Roger was an original board member when David Duckworth organized the association. After David stepped down from being President- Roger became President and kept the soccer association up and running. That was 25 plus years ago! His boys were young kids then- they are now grown.
He put his heart and soul into soccer.
Membership grew year after year.
Did he make everyone happy? Absolutely not! But he tried.
After much thought and finding the best people to take over the soccer program- he has said “good bye” to it.
We know the program will continue to thrive!
Flippin City Hall has taken over the program- Chris Adams and Stehvin Butcher are in charge. He is very happy with this decision.

Roger, we want thank you for all your time, energy, effort, dedication and love for this sport! ⚽️⚽️⚽️

He has spent ALOT of years on the soccer field. AND alot of these years with Stehvin Butcher!
Ya’ll are in great hands!

On July 16, 2025 we lost an important soccer person.
David Duckworth was the founder of South Shore Soccer Association. He started this local association in 1997. Back then, our local kids were having to go to Mtn Home to play soccer. David wanted something here for our local kids to be able to participate in.
This is how South Shore Soccer was born. His board members consisted of about 5 local parents who were very involved with soccer with their own children.
After about 5 years, David stepped down as board president. He continued to be involved in the soccer program over the years.
David loved soccer and coached the high school team for several years.
He touched the lives of many many kids.
We will miss him and thank him for his dedication to soccer.
Please keep the family in thoughts and prayers. 💔
