With all our new found free time we’ve spent it playing not working over the summer. Our little project has been a little neglected. But, all the flooring is back in and the walls are washed down with TSP so we’re ready for a fresh paint job inside.

Flooring all cut out and routering done. Now to fit it all back together like a jigsaw puzzle.

Bath and bedroom floor torn out, sanded, cleaned and repainted frame. Plumbing torn out and new plumbing ran under the floor with no fittings under the floor where they cannot be gotten to later. Officially ready to put the flooring back in once the wool insulation is installed.

The original fridge had been replaced with an apartment sized regular fridge. We have decided to put a 12 V Fridge in but wanted to make sure any new owner could convert to an LP fridge later if they want it easily. So we created a placeholder with foam insulation in the pvc tube so no critters can get in.

SMH, We were first surprised by the 1 inch thick insulation used and then we found a random drain tube in the wall that went into the belly pan. Insulation replaced with wool insulation and lots of it. The drain we reconfigured to go clear out of the unit. Figured out it went to the air conditioner. No more water draining into the belly pan.

I promise I helped and not just by operating the camera. The rest of the front flooring came out except for approximately 4 foot that spans between the living room and the bathroom. It was in great shape and was at a good location to leave in.

Let’s get started in the front. Thank goodness the frame has minimal surface rust. A little wire wheel, some special rust cleaner, and some spray paint and she’s good as new and ready for another 40 years of use. But, the rest of this floor has some damage as well so might as well replace it while we’re in here.

Jim had told me that there was a water leak behind the shower. We found it. One of the PVC water pipes had evidently become brittle and broke at a juncture. So yes, more water damage to the floor. Gotta replace that too! Might as well put all new pex lines in so this doesn’t happen again.
