As many of you know, I’ve been involved with coaching the Flat Rock Robotics Team (WARHBOTS) for several years. Our team has performed exceptionally well this season. We placed second in both of our district competitions and also won an Industrial Design award. We are currently ranked 15th out of 514 teams and we will be competing at the State Championship April 4-6. Based on our current standings, we have an excellent chance of qualifying for the World Championship in Houston, TX a couple of weeks later (April 17-20). Our goal is to raise enough money to be able to take all 12 team members to Houston for the World Championship. As you can imagine, travel expenses for 12 students, plus coaches, a 120 lb robot, tools, etc. isn’t cheap. We placed 22 out of 40 teams and unfortunately, we did not get chosen for an alliance in the playoffs, however we are a backup robot in case something happens with one of the other robots in the playoffs. We could not be more proud of this team! They have come very far since their first competition this year.

It has been a long first day of competition at States! We won 2 matches and lost 3. We have 7 more qualification matches tomorrow before Alliance Selections for the playoffs. The competition has been tough. Anything can happen when you’re competing against the best teams in the state. Fingers crossed that we have success tomorrow! P.S. Cell phone & WiFi service has been terrible so it has been hard to post updates. I have been posting quick updates on Twitter because that seems to be working a little better.
