🌟 September Athlete of the Month: APRIL! 🌟
We are so excited to celebrate April as our September Athlete of the Month! 🎉
Or, as we like to call her… GLAMAW! 💁♀️✨
Between being glamorous, getting stronger, bringing great energy to the gym, and now officially becoming a grandmother, April continues to show us that there is always a reason to keep investing in yourself.
We are so grateful for the positivity, consistency, and joy she brings to CrossFit Anazao every time she walks through the doors.
Tell us a little about you:
I’m a Louisiana native but spent most of my adult life in Virginia. Like a good southerner, I love to eat and especially love a packed table with friends. Good margaritas required! I have a big, crazy, beautiful blended family with 6 kids and a new grandbaby, and I’m married to my best friend. My favorite days are when the house is full of kids, friends, laughter and noise. I’m so grateful for God’s blessings.
What are your goals?
I do CrossFit because I feel like a crazy person if I don’t move. 😅 Movement has always been cathartic for me, helping me manage anxiety and feel more grounded. CrossFit is a little microcosm of life where you have to contend with discomfort and struggle. It’s very much a mental game. I feel stronger in life in general because of it.
I also want to be strong as I age. Being active with my kiddos and brand new grandbaby is extremely important to me. Picking up chunky grandbabies is no joke! As far as goals - I really really want to do a pull-up! I’d also like to improve my run times and work on my lungs. I want to not hate deadlifts. :)
What is your favorite movements?
Rowing, thrusters, bench press, hand stands (without the pushup lol), line drills, double unders, rope climbs
What are your least favorite movements?
Deadlifts, echo bike, overhead squats
What is special about CFA?
Everything! I have tried many other gyms, and Anazao is different. Everyone is welcome - no matter age or experience. Coaches and members alike are genuinely supportive of one another, celebrating all the little wins along the way.
