Huge congrats to the 8th grade Northview Athletics White for pulling off a dramatic Championship W!!

In the closing minutes, G Tate Morrison drained two 3’s to clinch the bling!! Tate led us with 25 points.

Proud of you, boys!! Merry Christmas!!!

What a day!

6th grade .athletics Blue with our first ever Championship ring 💍

Of course, our boys scored 67 points in the semi finals. They claim that was the sign they were destined to win it all. 😂

Our First ever Runner’s Up 8th grade .athletics Blue. 3 players, including our starting point guard, were unavailable for our semi finals and championship games tonight. These boys fought hard.

Down 12-0 to start the semi finals game, I was forced to adjust our defense to generate some scoring opportunities. The press trap worked like gold, led us to victory, but ultimately drained the team’s energy. Lots of cramping in the championship game. However, I never heard one boy make an excuse. They played hard.

Something special is going on at Northview Church Athletics. A couple of months ago, I made the decision to shift my focus from building Hickory to the creation of Northview Basketball.

Our first session is thriving, with 14 teams!!! Of those teams, we have some highly competitive teams (including standout teams in 6th, 7th and 8th grade that have all been playing above their actual age level at times).

With that said, the opportunity for lives to be impacted in meaningful ways, is what propels us.

Ready to step up your game? Our Inaugural Northview Elite AAU teams will hold their first TRYOUTS starting next week. This is for 4th grade through High School. High School tryout dates will be announced in a few days.
$25 non-refundable Tryout fee. $20 of the fee will be applied to team fees IF your athlete is offered and accepts spot on a team.

1. You do NOT have to attend Northview or even go to church. All are welcome to register and/or tryout.
2. There will not be special treatment for those that do attend Northview for the any roster placement on AAU teams. These will be very competitive teams.

Our 6th grade Northview Blue team moved to 5-0 tonight. If you enjoy strong, competitive basketball, you would have loved watching this one.
The game was back and forth. I was proud of both teams. Fishers fought hard, out rebounding us. They played physical and disciplined ball.
Our boys competed to the end and squeaked out a W.

We must work some details and get our C (Gus) back to help shore up the rebounding.

Eli, #28, buried his dad two days ago. He told me all he wanted was a 3 pointer for his dad. He broke down in my arms during 3rd quarter because he missed every shot.
As we prepared for the 4th quarter, I gathered the team and we asked Jesus to give him a 3. He hit it!!
God provided a small victory in this young man’s life and also showed the power of prayer to all the boys.
Prayer changes things.

8th grade Northview had a successful first game on Sunday.

Last night and tonight, Brandon Rush (NCAA & NBA Champ) and I broke down game film with them.

They are learning collegiate & NBA techniques for spacing, leverage on drives, and off ball actions.

Each day is opportunity to elevate your game.

For my inaugural Northview game, 6th grade Blue took care of business. Big 63-21 win!!

Anyone that appreciates suffocating defense and ball movement would have gladly paid admission to watch these boys.

This is just the beginning of what I believe will be an awesome journey.

I share this story with full permission from the family …

This is Elijah

His grandmother lives near The Crash (our new facility for Northview Athletics). She felt led to come to this building to see if there was basketball here.

I had no idea their story but I shared with them why I have a passion for coaching : I shared some challenges growing up and painful moments. God turned that pain into a passion.

All of a sudden Elijah said “I want to hear more…my dad died last week”.

We both started crying and he hugged me.

Elijah was just cut from his school team today and felt hopeless.

Grandma stood there, said this was divine encounter and registered him on the spot. He’s now going be part of this program.

I trusted God to direct next steps with Hickory and to create this expanded ministry. Never in my wildest imagination did I expect a moment like this.

The best is yet to come AND remember, your story is not fully written yet. Don’t give up, even when it seems unbearable.
