GLOVE CARE & BREAK IN COMMENTS/TIPS:
I never use heat, steam, water, or mystery chemicals and oils to break in a glove.
Water, steam, and heat are common cheat codes used by many to speed up a break in, but they DAMAGE the glove and VOID the glove's warranty.
So this is what I tell customers: If your glove is disposable and you only need it for a year, go ahead and do what you want to break it in. But if you forked out $400+ and want the glove to last for generations, have me break it in for you. I don't damage gloves and void their warranties like most other break in service providers do.
Once you get your glove back from me, make sure you condition it every few months. Apply that conditioner inside the palm too. I recommend Ball Players Balm Glove Conditioner.
Unfortunately it's very common for players to store their wet sweaty glove flat in a bag, in a hot car. This causes the leather and internal components to rot, dry, and crack.
Keep your glove dry, or dry it ASAP after a game.
Keep your glove away from extreme heat. Don't store it in a hot car.
Don't store it flat in a bag. Instead, carry it by hand, or clip it to a bag. This will help the glove keep its form, and air dry during those long tournament weekends.
Finally, don't forget to condition it every few months. Apply conditioner in the handstall / palm too! Ball Players Balm Glove Conditioner is the go to.
Those are my tips for the day π
