Here's a interesting article about recently deceased Mary Howley of Candlewood Kennels. It mentions Lottie as being one of the most legendary black labs ever.

Guess what, clients? Lottie was Stoner's great-great grandmother on both sides of his parents! No wonder he was so amazing and so is our Jimm.

We got lucky when Todd needed a started dog and acquired 19-month-old Stoner (whose owner considered him a field trial washout). Instead of that line of work, he got to come to Wisconsin and do what he was born to do -- fetch birds relentlessly!

We love our labs!

Today is the 85th anniversary of the Armistice Day blizzard that claimed the lives of many duck hunters, including right here in Pool 9.

Dedicating our hunt today to the Bosanny men.

Jim Senior was a 15 year old boy in 1940 and survived hunting in La Crosse that day with his father. He passed away at age 90 in a UTV accident in 2016. Jim Junior passed away last month from cancer. Remarkable men. It was such an honor to have known them and all of their duck hunting stories.

Armistice Day painting by Michael Sieve on my wall serves as a reminder. The artist also donated copy of one of his paintings to the 75th anniversary commemorative sign at the Ferryville boat launch.

***UPDATE: The rescuers have connected with the owners, who have been searching for Macy since she ran off on one of the islands. οΏΌ

Some duck hunters rescued this girl from an island in Lake Winneshiek just across from Ferryville. If you were missing her or you know where she belongs contact the animal control officer at 608-306-6253. οΏΌ
