Homeplace Stables, LLC. Mount Regis Stables has moved from it's original home in Salem, VA and taken on a new identity as Ho Purchased in the 1940’s by L.

Mount Regis Stables is a 68 acre family owned and operated farm nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. A five minute drive to downtown Salem, we are also just minutes away from The Blue Ridge Parkway, Green Hill Park, and the Virginia Horse Center. Earl Simms, the farm is now five generations older and still going strong. Earl, an active promoter of Black Angus cattle and heavily involv

ed in the Virginia Angus Association, created this beautiful farm at Mount Regis hoping to begin something the community could enjoy. In 1999, Earl’s grandsons, Paul and Mark Simms, realized that as the neighborhoods developed around their farm, managing cattle was becoming increasingly difficult. Neighbors were less than humored by a large, black bull grazing on their freshly mowed lawn! Wanting to keep it an agricultural setting, the two men turned the property into a boarding stable and it has been thriving ever since. They removed miles of barbed wire and replaced it with board and electric tape fencing. Existing sheds were converted into 12’X12’ stalls and the area was landscaped to suit equines rather than bovines. Mount Regis continues to be a full service boarding and training facility with a caring, experienced staff and a warm, family atmosphere. Your needs are very important to us and we take great pride in our farm and our relationships with our customers, both human and horse alike.

Dakota is a sweet 15.1h, 15 yr old Paint cross who thrives on trail riding or whatever job you ask of him. He has an excellent work ethic and wants his own person. His owners relocated to Maine and have found they will not have a place to keep him up north. Dakota does have a bit more go than whoa, but it’s very controllable, and more so due to him being out of shape and in need of a consistent program. He would be suitable for someone who loves to trail ride or wants to do low level dressage. He happily goes English or Western in just a smooth snaffle. Dakota would excel in a light program with a kid or small adult. He has no vices and is excellent for the vet and farrier, very easy to handle on the ground, and gets along with any horse. He does have mild ring bone, but has not shown any lameness and is not on any maintenance. It doesn’t affect his performance.
The ideal situation would be an on farm lease, but would sell to the perfect home. He’s a special guy to his owners and they only want the best for him. He is located in Ferrum, VA, and asking low fours. Please pm for more details and pricing.

ISO: 3 total unicorns for wonderful, dedicated clients.
1) Draft X, Warmblood, or hefty TB for a very tall rider with a long leg. At least 16.2, but not over 17.2. Must be athletic enough to event. Age 4-8, and must be going w/t/c and popped a few jumps confidently. Unfinished is fine, but nothing quirky. No explosive personalities. Please NO OTTB’s unless they are steady, jumping quietly, and can take a joke. Prefer a gelding. No major injuries, no cribbing, weaving, or any major vices. Soundness is key. Chrome is a huge plus! The horse would be in a full program with a trainer. BN Eventing is the goal, potential to go Novice, possibly Training. Budget is mid fours (as in under 10k). A full PPE will be done.
2) Quiet, beginner safe horse for a fairly timid rider. Can be older (age 10-12 is ideal), 14.3-15.3h, and not tremendously high maintenance, but a little is ok. Prefer gelding. This rider needs a confidence builder that can teach her to canter and learn to jump small jumps. The goal is also to be able to ride along the trail with friends. Not looking for green or project horse. Budget is low fours (as in under 5k). A full PPE will be done.
3) Not really breed specific, but nothing gaited and nothing flighty. A 15.2-16h, age 5-10, QH or draft cross is the dream. Chrome is a huge plus. She loves a paint or pinto 😊 Very quiet, gelding ONLY, for an older professional that can show CT up to 2’3”. This horse must have more whoa than go (but not grumpy) and not have major vices. A little maintenance is ok, but nothing that will limit riding enjoyment. Ideally, one with a little field experience, lots of trail riding, and a very solid foundation. He must not be reactive or spooky. Budget is under 10k. A full PPE will be done.
All horses will be boarded at a lovely facility and must be able to live in or out. We are looking within 4-6 hours of Roanoke. Please PM conformation pics and videos with horses doing what’s described. Thanks in advance!!

**SOLD**

Whiskey is an exceptional 2019 Perch/QH cross. His acceptance of everything is remarkable. He is quiet, not spooky, and would stand tied all day long. He is fantastic for the vet and farrier, great with other horses (definitely NOT alpha), loads, hauls, and clips like a dream. Whiskey has been saddled, long-lined, and ponied. He crosses creeks, ditches, banks, loves to trail ride (being ponied at this point), great with dogs, cats, and kids. This boy is going to be something spectacular. He has very correct conformation, and is adorable even in his ugly duckling yearling stage! Very solid all around. He has never offered to pick up a wrong lead and is a naturally balanced, quiet mover. Should top out big bodied, but not too heavy, and at about 16.1h. Priced upper mid fours for short time. Grab this guy now! Located in Ferrum, VA
